Taking down the 24 cheap tube lighting strips I put up probably 15 years ago and replacing it with this as my project this week since I took off from work.

Excited to hang it.

Doesn’t seem too difficult. I’m going to double face tape it just to hold it before I toss in the screws. Might be hard for 1 person to do without the double faced tape.

Going to plug each set it into a wireless remote.

That's how this was installed, it's super effective and "easy."  I say it that way because it took a bunch of measuring and marking, and planning, but the job was not hard.  Just requires thought and taking your time.  I had to replace a couple that died and the tape came off easily (it's the 3M pull-to-remove stuff).

I have a lot of my lighting and other things on these Apple Home compatible switches.  Dirt cheap, and means any device can control them.  "Hey Siri set the shop to full brightness" or "Hey Siri turn on shop lamp 1."  Or if they are dimmable lights, you can get a dimmer version (these are just on/off).

Do they have to be installed as a hex or can they be installed in straight lines or other shapes?  I have no idea how they connect to each other.

I don't know if you've ever looked at the connectors on my line lights?  They come in 45 degree, 90, and straight.  You can make the shapes that would allow.  I can't say whether Dave's specific kit has all of those, you can buy them as needed.  My kits came with some of all of them, but I had to buy a few to make specific shapes.

In case it's not obvious to some, this is common in detail and paint shops because the specific hex shape helps show any defects.

Only 45 and 90 with my set.

Love these lights, hope they last.

Clearly...you arranged them like a cock and balls.

Try to unsee that.

Carlos got me sucked in to Reddit, and there is a subreddit called garageporn:

Your new hexagon lights are all the rage in the garageporn room. Now wishing I had put them in my man cave. Make sure to put them on a dimmer so you can have the Yankee game on while out in the garage.

They look great.

Ignore Zero, every time he looks up at the ceiling there is a cock in his mouth and balls dancing on his chin. He can’t help it.

Will a dimmer shorten the life?

It will increase life, if they are dimmable LEDs.  The enemy of LED life is heat, taking even just a bit off the top will make them last much longer.

"Hey Siri, set the garage to 90%."

Ahhh, they aren’t dimmable. Live and learn…

Still beautiful!
