02XXCA Posted October 9 Posted October 9 (edited) Interesting point at 46:45 where the Doctor talks about a 30 minute phone call with RFK and I loved his last few sentence on the topic where he says RFQ is a lawyer and deals with Risk and possible tort claim, he is a Doctor and deals with probability that really hammers the point home. He also talks about confirmation bias and how RFK references three papers that support his beliefs but fails to accept the 50 thousand that do not support his claims. It's rather source-dependent, no? 11 hours ago, 02XXCA said: how RFK references three papers that support his beliefs but fails to accept the 50 thousand that do not support his claims. He "does his own research." I'm not sure if you're aware, but the rules are that one FaceBook or YT post is worth at least 10-20 papers from "them." 2 Quote
SwampNut Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Also remember that sugar (along with other shit "foods") have been pushed on us by government for DECADES. This is not new. Cigarettes are healthy, and sugar is a critical nutrient for your kids. Eat lots of animals and drink lots of garbage full of hormones. It does a body good. Quote

I will say this, and it is well established. The "battle of experts" is a flawed argument because anyone can find any expert willing to say what they want for enough money. From climate change to the health care industry, you have to scrutinize who did the study...their methodology...their funding. Too many "scientists" have sold out their integrity...which is a shame because it forces ordinary people to determine which "facts" they believe. Quote

That's why we definitely should trust the three instead of the tens of thousands. Since those three were funded by the sugar industry, they are clearly pure and only looking out for our best interests. What you said is exactly, word for word, what they said decades ago about cigarettes. Now finally we know for sure that those are not just safe, but good for you. Quote

And the minority KNEW cigarettes were bad for you. They didn't believe the experts. 1 Quote
CALCXX Posted October 9 Posted October 9 There are many idiots in the world that won't trust experts. Achohol is actually good for you according to my research. Got me laid a couple times. What do your studies reveal? 2 Quote
SwampNut Posted October 10 Posted October 10 I was studying this bartender very carefully in Chicago a couple nights ago. She gave me a lot of alcohol. But I did get a t-shirt and some koozies. Someone else was buying most of them. 1 Quote
