SwampNut Posted June 24, 2025 Author Posted June 24, 2025 Woke up and reached for my glasses as always before getting up. Nope, never again. Everything is ultra bright and white, and in focus. My brain still says blue, but I really know it's natural. Kind of like looking at one of those ultra-white heavy presentation papers versus dollar store shitty paper. 1 Quote
SwampNut Posted June 24, 2025 Author Posted June 24, 2025 Oh, also noteworthy, nobody in healthcare is easily offended and they all enjoy some good bullshit. They always ask which eye, and what correction/surgery you're going to have. When they would ask, "Right eye cataract removal and toric lens with doctor Levin?" "Wait, this isn't my vasectomy???" 1 Quote
SwampNut Posted September 18, 2025 Author Posted September 18, 2025 @DaveK I think I know the answer, but do you just buy and use whatever is cheap with no fucks given? Or anyone else with experience with readers? I just HATE the cheap-ass glasses. Even though I only use them at my desk and for bedtime reading. Otherwise I wear the smart glasses. The flimsy, junky hardware just bothers me and I can't get over it. I can't seem to find anything that's a high quality version. I just need two; desk and bedside. I won't lose them, won't put them anywhere else. Maybe a third to live inside my travel bag, as I make it a point to have that ready to roll as is 100% of the time. Willing to pay for quality. The Ray-Ban smart glasses have just fallen into my life perfectly and I fucking love them. Optically and electronically, and comfort-wise. And oddly, I get compliments on them out of nowhere. I could never wear anything like that with my massive prescription before. Quote

SwampNut Posted September 19, 2025 Author Posted September 19, 2025 I also have my iPad set into the firmware's ultra-dense, small mode, for maximum space. It's a one-time setting you can do on the Pro during first setup. It changes the entire OS's scaling and resolution, which is fantastic with proper glasses (or presumably great vision). My guess is you may not need to have 37 windows open on a huge screen plus another screen in order to do your job most effectively. Anyway, I think I'm going to go talk to my optometrist and do like the Quay thing, find a good tier 2 RX solution, not the $500 everyday non-computer lenses I use. Quote
SwampNut Posted September 24, 2025 Author Posted September 24, 2025 A reminder that you get nothing if you don't ask. I talked to the dispensing/measurement guy at Sam's, who said my wishes were not unreasonable, and he had me wait for the optician with decades of experience. I really like that guy. He spent a solid half hour going over my past glasses, my monitor setup, and all the details of my new eyes. He had a bunch of ideas, but also set me up with a no-cost followup with the optometrist this Friday. I've done one of these appointments with him before, and he fucking NAILED the setup for me then. That guy absolutely loves his job and to hear about success. I think this will be solved in a few days. Quote
SwampNut Posted September 24, 2025 Author Posted September 24, 2025 Oh, the fact that I had photos of my setup taken from the glasses themselves really helped. He loved it. The smart glasses are his everyday except at work, where they are not allowed. Quote
