SwampNut Posted Tuesday at 07:22 PM Posted Tuesday at 07:22 PM Price seems a bit crackheadish. https://www.cycletrader.com/listing/1997-Honda-CBR+1100XX+SUPER+BLACKBIRD-5041251230 Quote
rockmeupto125 Posted Tuesday at 08:26 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:26 PM Looks like his. That's not that bad. Carbies in nice shape seen to be drawing a niche interest, and that's about as nice as you'll find. Quote
TOXXIC Posted Wednesday at 04:45 AM Posted Wednesday at 04:45 AM 99% certain that is Tom's bike. The surrounding garage is the giveaway. Quote

rockmeupto125 Posted Wednesday at 04:14 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:14 PM Yeah, really. The biggest argument seems to be the lack of an ECU that errors out and makes the bike a pretty boat anchor. 1 Quote
SwampNut Posted Wednesday at 04:48 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 04:48 PM I had never considered this before, but fixing my fucked up injectors on the neglected bike took less time, effort, parts, and dollars than fixing carbs. The $4 parts were at the Honda dealer...the car dealer down the road. Also, do not take my anti-carb ranting too seriously, but I seriously do hate the fucking things, and will always rant about them. They are like lead acid batteries, and I have no room in my life for either. Quote
rockmeupto125 Posted Thursday at 01:45 AM Posted Thursday at 01:45 AM Earlier today trying to talk myself out of buying an older bike because I find them more and more a pain in the ass. But... You don't need an unobtainable ecu, and there's no GPS tracker/spy. I was having a related conversation with myself as I considered buying an older bike. "But they are unreliable. So, how did you ride then thousands of miles with little or no maintenance?" 1 Quote
SwampNut Posted Thursday at 03:19 PM Author Posted Thursday at 03:19 PM Last night I discovered a puddle of oil under the XR. Fucking fuck. Quote
CALCXX Posted Thursday at 03:35 PM Posted Thursday at 03:35 PM (edited) Forgot the drain plug huh ? I did that in the 70's all liquored up. Good thing I went back inside to get another beer and saw it. Didn't start the bike. Hardware store across the street had more oil. It's good to "flush" the oil pan once in awhile.
