02XXCA Posted July 5 Posted July 5 (edited) It has beena tough two weeks since I got off the Alaska Cruise, both me and my wife got the flu. Hers hit about a day off the boat and mine a day later. I have never been knocked out as bad in my whole life. It left me coughing day and night. The worst part I have never had my sleep so badly impacted thus making recovery so much slower. Tracking with my watch shows as little as 1.5 to 2 hours of light sleep thru the whole night. Food has tasted bad and made eating hard to keep up my energy. Atleast the extra pounds added at the buffet have long been burned, down 10 lbs since I got home. Also I thing I strained a muscle last night from a severe coughing bout leading to sharp pain in the upper abdomen below my left ribs. Can't wait to get this behind me. Any suggestions on otc drugs that have helped you prevent that coughing response so you can sleep. Using DM cough syrup has been what I have been using. Edited July 7 by 02XXCA Quote
DaveK Posted July 5 Posted July 5 I got the flu really bad once in my entire life. It’s the only time in my entire life I took off from work for an entire week….knocked out for 9 days straight. I’ll never forget it. I went and got an inhaler for the cough it was so bad and sucrets and that numbing throat spray really helped too. Hot lemon water with honey too…. Sucks bro but the only way to get through it is sleep through it….gotta ultra rest. Keep us updated. 1 Quote
Zero Knievel Posted July 5 Posted July 5 Based on past experience, I bought two Zicams before a trip with mom…just in case. Didn’t end up using them. I did pack most every OTC cold med I might need just in case. Quote
CALCXX Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Hope you and your honey get to feeling better. Go camping next time. Quote

SwampNut Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Cruises do seem to be incubators for new fun diseases. At least you didn't get hantavirus or whatever the fuck it was on that cruise a few weeks so. As far as I know, I've never had flu, but had RSV once. I do NOT recommend it. 1 Quote
02XXCA Posted July 7 Author Posted July 7 (edited) After not being able to get comfortable because of pain in my upper back and not sleeping for 2 days, I finally went to a walk in Clinic and got my lungs listened to and some X rays. The Doctor said I have pneumonia, so they have called in some meds and I will pick up this afternoon. I was wondering the house all night unable to get comfortable of having to cough if I laid down. So looking forward to some rest. Edited July 7 by 02XXCA Quote
DaveK Posted July 7 Posted July 7 You’ll be all fixed up in 4 days flat on that shit but MALE SURE YOU GO THROUGH THE ENTIRE SCRIPTS OF ALL MEDS ! Glad you went to the doc. 1 Quote
SwampNut Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Moriah has albuterol as a rescue inhaler for asthma and it can make her jittery for 1-3 hours, and can't sleep. So time it accordingly. 1 Quote

02XXCA Posted July 9 Author Posted July 9 So glad I went to the doctor, the last two nights I was able to atleast get around 4 to 5 hours of light sleep, I still wake up around 1:30 and find it hard to fall back asleep as I can't seem to get comfortable in bed, so I moved downstairs to a recliner. Down 15 lbs since June 23rd, trying to keep eating as things still dont taste very good. Have not had a coffeee in in over 2 weeks, feeling better slowly. Quote
DaveK Posted July 10 Posted July 10 So glad you’re on the way up…..keep hitting those meds, extreme hydration, and blow jobs. Must have an excess of them too. It helps with recovery. 1 Quote
RXX Posted July 11 Posted July 11 So sorry to hear of your illness. glad you are on the mend. Like Dave said, finish your antibiotics even if you feel better. Drinks lots of water. Did you get a flu shot? Quote
