I am doing some work on the bird and while the tank is off I figure a good time to RR plugs. I am pretty sure the wiring has never been replaced (~130K) so it might be prudent to replace them also. Looks like they are hard wired into the coils and they also have never been replaced (? at least by me)

I will be going on a long trip in a few months, would replacing the whole kit be advisable? I have no reason to believe any of the parts are close to failure.

if your replacing the plugs, just check that the boots are good.had 1 get a small split in it which caused that cylinder to start missing while riding in the rain.

Philip, I've seldom seen coil or ignition cable problems on an XX not directly attributable to physical damage, as in poida's situation.  If changing the plugs, be cautious removing the spark plug boot. Twist it side to side several times, and if possible use a spark plug boot puller, the type which is actually a pusher on some sort of stick that you slide past and slip onto the distal side of the boot so that as you pull, your action translates into pushing from the far end.  That's as opposed to the soft grip plier type that grip onto the near side of the boot and pull on it. As you pull on the rubber, it stretches and becomes tighter on the plug, precipitating tears.

Hit up Advance Auto for the NGK CR9EHIX9 plugs.  They are $15 apiece and they can usually have them the next day.  Too many counterfeits on Amazon and eBay.

Oh, the spark plug leads unscrew from the coils.

My Honda coils of the past, removed the wire from the coil, snipped a 1/4in to start anew.

Reattach. Just like new. Like Joe said, unless physically damaged, coils rarely fail.
