  1. I have ridden on other bikes with the M1's, but not the XX. They were on a Moto Guzzi Scurra, and an MV Agusta F4s. I have also ridden the MV with Pilots, which I also like a lot. I liked the M1's a lot. I would have no complaints about them at all. However, the Scurra, which is neither heavy nor powerful, ate through them quickly. The owner is not going to use them again. He also thought that the rear did not offer enough confidence in some cases; I didn't find that, but I only rode it at ideal temps on ideal roads. Neither of those bikes have enough power to break traction, and considering their cost, I wasn't dragging peg on them. So I was unable to compare absolute traction at extremes. I found the M1's handling to be fine, and not all that different from the AV45/46.
  2. I purposely have run less powerful pads on the rear to minimize rear braking, but am currently running a matched set. I would avoid running more-powerful pads on the rear.
  3. Hey Joe, thanks for making me feel like an idiot for not thinking of that...
  4. The reflector on the XX is quite compatible with HID. Many are not. Several people have already done HID on the XX with fantastic results.
  5. Yeah, CIS sucks ass. Is he using the CIS browser, or another?
  6. Take the mirror off the bike first, so you can get better leverage.
  7. Oh, shit, I never thought someone would be using the AOL browser. Yeah, that thing is known to have serious issues with any secure php apps. Ok, is anybody else having the problem and NOT using the AOL browser?
  8. I've run the EBC HH, Galfer Green, Galfer Black, and of course, OEM. Of all I would take the Greens first except for they get mushy in the rain. The Galfer Blacks are what I kept on there. No rain issues, and more predictable than the EBC's. I think the EBC's are an expert-level pad; they have a non-linear heat-friction curve and they want to lock up as you get to lower speeds. The Blacks have a much flatter friction curve relative to both speed and heat.
  9. $6?!? Wal-mart has the large jugs for $17.88, which brings it down to under $4/litre.
  10. How much are you paying for Honda Polish? I get the little bike-sized ones for $2.35 and the big ones for $4-something. Pledge didn't do it for my bugs, and neither did the Silkolene or Maxima cleaners. Besides, the Pledge makes your bike smell all sissy lemony. Save it for the furniture. Honda Polish has a pleasant but acceptably manly scent. (Actually I use Honda Polish on my furniture, especially the bedroom which is all black lacquer.)
  11. Anybody found the tool? No luck at Ace or Sears. They top out at 10mm.
  12. Hmm, if that's true, then we have two issues. I know for a fact the session loss without an IP address change is an issue, because I get that when I lose my sessions. My address has not changed in months though. I also don't think we're having this issue on the other boards I host, but I am going to ask and see if I find a pattern. I can't code in php. Just no skills in that at all. So I have no ability to change this. If there's a phpBB mod to do it, I'm open to the idea. Meanwhile, I'd like to figure something out, so take the poll. As far as Ken's emoticon issue, that's something I couldn't even find as a previous issue with a search. Which browser and version? Have you tried the cache clearing?
  13. Nobody knows the difference except Mobil, and they aren't telling. Nearly all BMW riders use Mobil 1 car oil. I've used it for over ten years. There are billions of miles on bikes using Mobil 1 car oil. It's your money.
  14. This is an important point. First month I lost all that weight, but didn't feel/fit any different really. Which was kind of a downer, and seemed very strange. I stopped losing weight then, but then my clothes started to fit much better and I started to feel all the physical (positive) changes. A couple days ago I noticed my pants, same size I've been wearing for years, are much looser than they ever were. I dug out an old size, and they fit. Woohoo! I am still staying away from all simple sugars and all fruits. What do you think, does it make a difference? I have not touched any sugars since Jan 2. My only "cheat" items have been beer, bread, potato (small quantities), etc. Also I'm pretty sure I'm going well over the 50g when I do. I mean 2-3 pints of good micro-brew stout must be way up there, I would think?
  15. The bugs in Arizona have a drug problem. They drink superglue.
  16. Oops. I thought I had. Hmm, they show up in the admin list. Crap. Will see what I can do some time soon. Clobbered by a personal and a work issue right now.
  17. Shirley, you jest.
  18. Yes. The crankcase will pressurize A LOT if you have excess oil. You will lose a lot of power, and can actually blow seals and gaskets. This is why he needs to get an admission from them. Part of my fiasco with the AZ Motorsports people was over-filling by over a quart. I lost 15MPH top end (imagine my embarassment when I topped out at 165 and an R1--ridden by a French chick--passed me) and could no longer wheelie. That alone was worth compensation for emotional damage. At least in my case they were such incompetent morons that they also left the breather disconnected, so it just dripped out instead of filling up the airbox.
  19. Damn, you probably, like, wash it and stuff too, don't you?
  20. Mine does the hydraulic swish too. Does this happen if you just bounce the front end up and down while stopped?
  21. First, I have to thank TJ for his advice on this, since I was previously stalled at one weight for weeks. It seemed odd, but I put my faith in it and he was exactly right. I was 226 on 3/24, and I'm 218 today. This is amazing considering I've worked in some real beer and some bread, twice! It was just as TJ predicted though--I guess my body had found balance and even though I was still well under 40g/day and usually under 30, my Ketone levels stayed in the "trace" range and I lost no weight. Immediately after having a few beers one night, my Ketone levels then bounced up to mid-range in around 48 hours. Last weekend I had one real beer and some bread; Ketones were barely trace 24 hours later, but high 48 hours later. Thanks again, just what I needed, and I never would have thought of this.
  22. Honda Polish. Plexus is fine too, it's just not as good at removing bugs. It means not to use ammoniated cleaners such as Windex nor any volatile spirits.
  23. What Joe said. Especially about checking the air filter, and the plug change.
  24. Everything I've read, and everything the local tuners and racers have told me, goes along with what Mithrandir has said. While I respect Dan's opinion to some point, it's that--an opinion. He's also got a stake in the whole thing. The "flow more oil" point is something everyone talks about. Looking at the RaceTech kit, I saw nothing but excellent craftsmanship and machining. Even the competing kits from Traxxion feature larger oil flow holes.
  25. Is it like oil rushing through the valves maybe? What weight of oil is in there now?
