Well, I started a Keto diet but haven't lost anything yet, I have those strips you piss on and sometimes they say small, sometimes nothing :-(

I am following correctly but the only things I can think of would be stuffing me up is creatine, chewing gum and the Vodka from the weekend :-)

Any suggestions?

I manly have eggs, cheese, kranskis, chicken and steak.

How long did it take you guys to get into Ketosis?

Do you think it matters how much you eat on this diet?

what are the strips you piss on??? is this something i need to do???

i started the diet last tuesday (4/22). i normally weigh in the morning and weigh in at 196-197, the pounds have been slowly dropping and this morning (4/28) i weighed in at 188. results are good for me so far but i want a snicker bar sooooo bad.

LOL,

They are use to measure the amount of Keton's in you body, there are only an indicator, it depends how much water you've drank etc

at a chemist, you can ask for Ketosticks

In the US, chemist = pharmacy.

If you're seeing trace or no ketones detected, then you're not in ketosis. It could be that you're consuming something that is preventing it (no idea if creatine could do that), or your system just takes longer to get off the sugar.

I'm going to take away all the things I think it may be one at a time (Vodka last!!!) and see what happens.

Its amazing what they put sugar in,

:-)

Small is good, remember they indicate "excess" ketone. You want
to be excreting them or metabolizing them. Hence,
really large amounts are not helpfull

Creatine is horrible, all it does is make you carry water weight
and can actually damage your kidneys if you don't drink
massive amounts of water. It doesn't make your muscles
grow, it just lets SOME people store more CP in the muscle
(not a bigger engine, just more gas for it.) It's also a temporary
effect.

Chewing gum is a no-no. Most have tons of sugar or sugar
alcohols.

Vodka is fine in moderation ;-)

Sounds good, but I don't know what "kranskis" are,
ha ha..

About 2 weeks tops.

Not really, but a good scheme is to eat between 12-14 kcal for
each pound of lean body weight (IE: how much you weighed before
you gained any significant body fat). Any less than 12 and
you'll risk running up against your bodies "starvation" defense
mechanism and stall.

Most brands of chewing gum (breath mints etc.) contain sugar. I'm not sure what effect creatine would have on glucogen storage.

I have heard calorie recomendations of 10 to 12 times your body weight per day. (200 lbs = 2200 cal.) About 60 to 70 percent of this should be calories from fats.

Thanks for the replys,

Things are going better, I think it was those cheese kranskis (sort of sausage thing)

About the Vodka, I read that it won't kick you out of Ketosis, just slows weightloss while it's used for fuel.. Hey, I can live with that.

As for the Gum, it's sugar-free, 0 carb

The Creatine I'm in two minds about, I like using it but don't want to sabotage the diet.

I had a look grape juice for post workout but it was way high in Carbs, was thinking maybe Lite Cranberry Juice

I'm thinking of having just one carb-up meal on the weekends, just to keep things moving :)

One thing I love is filling up the grill with bacon & not feeling like a pig anymore (I am) lolz

:)

Cranberry Juice is probably good advice for you. Because, if
you continue to take creatine, you'll need it (the acidity) to prevent
the development of kidney stones.

It's bad stuff for you man, but I'll quit nagging now ;-)

depends what creotean you are taking Most that are name brands and are not just creotean are LOADED with sugar, The sugar is suposed to help speed the creotean to the muscles. Or thats what the adds say :)

It really helped me when I first started working out or I thought it was anyways. I have been totaly off any weightlifting suplements for almost a year.
