I know this should be in the garage but there are no users browsing that forum. I'm installing a K&N and have removed the o-ring like stated in directions but still the filter cover doesn't want to sit flush..is this normal?
REXX
Never mind...was able to screw it down flush  . I guess the fit isn't as good as factory filter.

It's normal Rex.... I had to yell at mine, leave the room several times, and sneak up on it to make it fit.

Bathtub caulk = no.

Yep, screwy fit, swore *$#@!))$*# at it, a little voodoo and a rain dance. Finally it went in reasonably decent, but 4 the hell of me i can't remember what i did. Way better fit than the K&N on the old CBR1000F, that one took some serious cussing'n'pushing. K&Ns i've put in cars have had oem fit.

Me too. Did you guys know it goes in easier after you take it out of the box?

Hey man, I learned the hard way

What? you have to take it out of the box? Next thing you gonna tell me is I shouldn't have oiled the box. I clean it every two months and amazingly its not very dirty.

BTW, leaving the plastic on the filter helps it stay clean longer.....

No shit, damnit, and i threw the box and plastic away. Can I use large zip-lock bag as a substitute? That would give ez access when u do have to clean it! And it's reusable too!

Damn that is a good idea. I'll have to try that next time.
