Full Version: Saddlebag after 150mph drop

Most of the shots hardly show any damage (a hole here and there and some 'resurfacing'), so I did not put them up.

After the drop, I put the bags back on the bike and they were good for the 800 miles left in the ride. They are still useable but there is a tear near one of the side mounts so they are officially retired.

Considering the speed, I think they (Nelson Rigg Sphare) qualify as 'tough'.

150mph? Why, that's illegal! Shame on you........

The bags were doing 150, officer, I was doing 65 :?: . They passed me.

Nah...we always take our bags with us when we hit the track.

Hugo, thanks for the Luggage Crash Test. I have those bags and have stayed awake many nights wondering how they would hold up if they flew off the bike at high speeds. Seriously though, those bags ride great and they are easy as hell to take off and put on.

I can vouch for the 'take off' part.

So did they just eject or something? Did it hit anything, give details! Where ya nervous that they were toast and you'd lost all your undies across the freeway?

They ejected. When I set them on the bike I assumed (I might have been wrong there  ) that the wind factor was not so bad and that they did not need to be extra secure (they were fine up to 130). I tied them to the rear pegs, which folded back. Felt a strong sideways push and saw them bouncing away in my mirrors.

No biggie (besides the fact that it does not happen every day). I would still have hated to have to fix them on the spot as I was 800 miles away from home and in the middle of the freaking - AZ - desert.

I'll buy another - identical - set soon.

See if the company wants them back, maybe they can use them for an ad. Then you might get a free new set.

He He.... My standard response when asked how fast my bike will go.
It'll go the speed limit.
