this is a last resort so hopefully someone might be able to help me on here. i have a 2001 cbr1100xx Blackbird engine in a custom reverse trike i had built last year. the bike ran fine for about 3 months then after i parked at the mall i came back out and it wouldnt start (no spark). after towing it home i started going through the bIke and noticed that the headlight high beam indicator light wasnt on when the high beams were on. after disconnecting the headlights the bike fired right up. i was able to rev it to 5k rpm with out any problems untill i let off the throttle then it died instantly. i proceded to start it up a few more times since then but it would not rev at all, it would only idle. after about 5 times starting it the fuel relay went crazy and the fuel pump wouldnt kick on..... after all that happened i checked the check engine light for a code but it said that my #4 fuel injector was bad.... i figured that the cdi had to have fried and that was the cause of all these problems happening all at the same time. i bought a new cdi and it didnt fix the problem. i have stripped all of my wires of the electrical tape covering checking for any wires burnt or frayed and nothing. i have changed the ignition pulse generator and the ignition coils but that didnt help either. and now i dont have a speedometer, fuel or temp guage working. they dont even light up like they used to with the ignition on. Now im at a stand still not knowing where to turn except a cycle shop thats going to charge me $65/hr X how many hours it takes which could be forever. hopefully someone else might have had a similar experiance or some idea where to point me. ill be taking it in next week if i cant fix it. THANKS FOR ANY AND ALL HELP.

grounds are not correct.

best I can do with what you have posted.

you have a good VOM?

your going to need the manual. Wiring diagram, and be able to follow the diagnostic. With what you have done here, should be a snap.
start with here

So what is your time worth, an hour...

+1 with Stan.

I would try to find a old sweep meter ( simpson 360) or use a trouble shooting light along with the VOM. A high impedance meter will make you think that you have good connections that aren't really good.

I know you are focusing on electrical, but could you have a plugged vent on your fuel tank causing poor or no fuel flow? Or a bad fuel regulator? Just asking.

i have located a bad ground wire that fried in the plug where like 9 come together so i have cut them out and am going to ground them all again and see if that fixes the problem. but i wont know till i finish rewiring the grounds....as to the fuel i didnt have a problem with getting fuel but for some reason the fuel pump isnt wanting to come on but if i touch a battery + to the pump wire it runs and flows just fine. i know its something electrical just what exactly is the question. i really hope fixing the burnt ground wire will fix the problem.

Had the same problem and it turned out to be the ground wire was not tight..took two days with a VOM and it was fine but would not hold a load..

well found that when i fixed the ground wires i blew the 30 amp fuse for the engine kill relay ao i replaced that and the bike started........ i still have no gauges but it ran untill i let off the gas and then it spit and sputtered and ran really rough then died again so on to the next problem eusa_wall.gif

werll its running REALLY bad. spitting and sputtering. i ran the diagnosis indicator light and it gave me code 1, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15, which is bad connections on the MAP sernsor, TP sensor, IAT sensor, and injectors 1-4 i looked at all connections ane they look fine but cant find anything that they have in common except the plug on the harness. im going to go check the wires and see how the continuity is between them im running out of options icon_confused.gif
