Say I'm running a low beam, passport 8500, GPS, Ipod, heated grips and heated vest all at once.
Is that pushing it? It would be easy to ration, but just wondering if it's something I need to be careful of.

According to Joe's differences thread, 1999 up have a 460 watt stator.
Take away two 35 watt head lights, 2, 10 watt running lamps, two 15 watt tail lamps, and guessing 170 watts or so for injectors and instruments leaves another 170 watts or 14 amps from a stator at full output.
The GPS, passport, and Ipod probably don't pull 5 watts combined. But heated gear is power hungry.
If my guess on the systems power consumption is close, you only have 160 watts to run the heated stuff. What is the rating on the grips and vest?

Craig, IIRC, the stock headlights are 55w each. Going HID will get you down to 35w.

Does your passport have a voltage meter on it? I know when I had my beltronics hooked up and on "voltage" mode, when I had all my heated gear (gloves, vest, chaps and arm heatres on) it would alarm with a low voltage indicator when I went to idle. Might want to try that.
Oh, get HID's.... that will help
