The directions with my new battery tender say it's not for use with a dry-cell battery.
Does this mean it's no good for use with my '02 OEM sealed battery?

It'll work fine on your '02. You've got a sealed lead-acid battery, which is what the Tender is made for. A dry cell battery is a totally different animal
