I changed my bars with heli-bars. On the stock bars there is a peg that fits in to a groove on the top bridge. That sets the alignment of the bars. With the Heli-bars there is no peg, so is there a proper placement for the bars which sets them at the proper angle back? The way I have them set, they are about 1/8" away from hitting the tank when I turn the bars all the way to one side or the other. Is that too close?

Set them to where they're comfortable to you, and don't interfere with tank or windscreen.

Where I have them seem pretty comfortable, just wanted to make sure that they weren't too close to the tank...I guess as long as they don't hit the tank, it will work.

You may want to make sure you won't trap your hand between the bars and the tank when the bars are fully turned. 1/8th sounds a little close.

with your gloves on too! I just put some on and just went with the minimum tolerance with my winter gloves.

Are yours nickel plated or the powder coat type? when i bought mine, there were only a few nickel plated types left...

Mine are the silver powder coat. I ended up adjusting them out a little more. When you put yours on, is there a tiny bit of play in the throttle horizontally? Like will the throttle move from side to side a tiny bit? I think it's normal but just want to make sure.

That little bit of play is normal. If it wasn't there, there is the off-chance the throttle could bind. :shock:
