OK....I am going to take a stab at value.
In my opinion there is 3 values to this bike.
Your desire, in person value, and Ebay type value.
Ebay....prolly high 4's mid 5's.
In Person.....mid 7's.
Personal value sounds like 8 or 9.
What I mean by in person....if I saw it in person at a bike night type event, we spoke for a while about it, saw your love and affection for it, the super high end parts and pieces you have on it gone over and described in detail....I think it carries more value.
Could you get more if it were in pieces? I know those parts are fucking expensive.
Is it flat black still? If it were some ridiculously hot and shiny color, personally, I think you would get more than the paint job would cost....simply due to the convenience of it being done.
Maybe use a marketing idea of "if you buy the bike at this price....you can choose the color of your choice" and you pay for the work. Candy Glory Red (2001 XX) would look fucking sick.
OR....paint a picture of The Rock on it and call it the punisher and I am SURE someone will pay 10+ for it.
Good luck with the sale....

See, Stan just proved my point. It's worth much more to any of us because we know. Ebay, Craigslist.....might be a waste and actually disappoint you.

Hate to say it, bud, but you might be better off parting it out. Pretty sure the bolt on front conversion and tail conversion would sell quick now that you did all the work. Wheels, rotors, shock...then all the OEM stuff like bodywork, frame motor, it'll add up quick. I couldn't do it if it were my bike and more importantly my work, but it makes sense financially. Honestly, you need to keep it, you'll never get what it's worth.
If you're going to sell it whole, I'd say you need a proper paint job to get closer to what it's worth.

I completely agree, parting it makes the most monetary sense. Maybe I should have Hobi ride it to Seattle.

Then, I can pimp his ass out on the curb to pay for his one-way ticket home.

There are some things that just can't be replaced, this is one. When you are old, you will wish you still had it. And how much does it cost to keep?
Think about it, someday one of your great grand children will find it in the back corner of the garage covered up and will be stunned! Being the genius child that they are, they will secretly formulate fuel and whatever is needed to make the thing run again. They will then secretly roll the bike out and learn to handle it and one fine day will scream it down the highway. Once again there will be someone on the planet that will feel the freedom of riding! Then the police will catch them and subject them to the mandatory thought management training.
Oh well, good luck, I'd love to buy it just to have another one.

Put the kids in bunk beds, trust me, they will be leaving before you know it. It really doesn't matter how big the house is or where you live. School yes. The most important thing is for them to learn independence and to know that they are loved. Then let them go and have a nice ride.

Mileage? Engine mods/maintenance? A buyer's gonna need to know.
You obviously won't get back what you put into it. My XX is almost exactly the way I like it (will do some suspension mods in the future, but it rides fine for now). But I'm changing my Kawi Z750S to fit me better, and those changes are expensive. I sure hope I don't regret it later (I probably won't, but the process is painful).
