I have been pricing carpet at some of the local specialty flooring stores. High end stuff runs $5.00 per sq/ft and up. I stopped by Lowes Sunday and the highest price carpet they carries was about $5.00 per sq ft. MOst premium carpet was about $4.00 per sq ft. or less. They have a deal going right now for installation only $199. Anybody know anything about carpet. It seems there carpet for $4.00 is equivalent to the other stores $6.00 carpet. Seems like a much better deal. I have about $1,300 sq feet to replace.

Compare the pad to be installed also. That will make a big difference in how the carpet feels and lasts.

With all the animal love making you have been doing lately....I'd recommend a very thick padding icon_biggrin.gif

That is all I can offer to this thread....and may be the MOST important?

Last time we bought carpet Lowes was twice the price of an independent carpet installer.
