--SOLD--

Okay, got close to a sale around Xmas, but back once again for sale. Bike garaged in Northern NJ.

It's got 25,4xx miles, recent chain (at 22,500). This was JJP's bike until I bought it a couple years ago. Stock pipes.

Farkles:

Throttlemeister
Helibars
Corbin seat
Bagster tank cover and tank bag (bag is wired for more farkles)
Xenon HIDs - low and high beam
loud horn (I forget the make)
Givi Wingrack mounted
New MRA Vario-Touring adjustable screen

Bike is in very good shape. No real scratches, no damage whatsoever, just the expected wear - maybe a little lighter than the miles might indicate - of an XX of that vintage and mileage.

A trusty steed that I'll miss.

$6,500. Now $6,400. Now $6,300 with a box of chocolates. Now $6,100 - must sell.

Now asking $5,800. Plus, I'll throw in a full Akrapovic street exhaust system (not mounted) which I forgot I had.

Now $5,500. Someone? Anyone?

Regards,

Jim

I want to buy a Blackbird although I am not familiar with the pro's and con's and have not ridden one. I was knocked off of my CX650T and want a fast Sport Tourer and your Bird looks set up for that. Do you have more info or anything to add to your description? Photos? My email address is captnbobc@yahoo.com
and can be reached at 310 722 7337. Thank you, Bob

Long way from NY to CA. Oh Rich...! eusa_whistle.gif

The first owner took excellent care of it and sold it to me. I flew down to and bought it in NC then rode it to NY. It is a great running and well maintained bike as I put on 10,000 miles on it in 5 months. Rev has taken great care of this bike and the next owner will get a very nice bike!

Whatcha gettin' next Rev? An FJR? A C14?

Captnbobc:

I don't have additional photos yet but will soon. Will post. Nothing really more to add. Good, clean, honest bike. Riding it this weekend as a farewell (so I'll take photos then). It's an excellent sport-tourer and may even be shockingly fast compared to your CX. How long have you been riding? You'd need to use far more brains than brawn when operating the throttle on an XX as anyone here can attest. It's not a hooligan bike. It's faster. It's quieter (aurally and visually). More sophisticated.

Anyway, I had another bike a few years ago and that buyer flew East from Calif to ride it back and that went fine but if you're new to this, it might be a bit much to take on.

JJP:

Hey bud! Found an '06 FJR. Can't get comfy with the idea of a Kawi and have read (and witnessed) a few problems with them. Plus, a sorted, used FJR is a much better proposition in my mind than an unsorted C14.

Still for sale....

Ooops,
I may have given you the wrong impression, sorry. I am 65 and have been riding for 50 years. The cx, when the waste gate is massaged, is strong enough to
seriously pin your ears back as many squids sitting on the latest zoomers have found out. A most surprising sleeper it was. The old fart on the red, white and blue
Turbo has surprised quite a few. My riding bud's range from low 30's to 50's and track time at Willow Springs once in a while. It is nice to ride all year round. I have ridden the Geezer and the new CBR is almost here, which may be the new hot ticket so I will wait to ride it. I want to do less canyon and more highway riding and while I am here recovering from an accident (Suv,illegal "U" turn= totaled CX Turbo) the idea of the Blackbird as my replacement ride has me wanting
to find and buy the best, cleanest and most well maintained example of the breed that I am able to locate. I do not care where it is, if the bike is what I want I will travel.
My family is in N.Y. and I will probably be in the city over the Holidays so if your Bird is still available I would like to see it and as I am serious I will have seen
to shipping before leaving Los Angeles or arrange to leave it at my cousins home until Spring. It would be my 6th cross country ride. I live on my Sailboat and so if you and family find your way out west I can show you the Pacific ocean up close. A good friend of mine was with the Vance and Hines racing group for about 25
years and when I told him I wanted to replace the Turbo with a Blackbird, he thought it was a good plan and said the V and H might be able to transport a bike for me from anywhere in the country so there are some options. I will let you know when I firm up my travel plans.
Thank you, Capt. Bob C

Ah, okay, then. Willow is one fast track. Raced there in cars from '94-'98. Witnessed a few ugly bike moments there, too. The problem with bikes there is that off track - especially outside Turn 9 which is the fastest corner - is rutted and if you catch a rut, you can end-o many feet in the air. Not fun, nor the quick way 'round.

I'll let you know if I get any solid offers, but for now, I have it posted only here....

Cheers.

Wing? No. That's for when I hit my next decade! I'm still only 40 (or 30-10) for fuck's sake!

Riding with a best friend Sat (tomorrow) from NNJ up to Warwick, then West on NY1 to Jervis, then following the Del River to wherever and back.

On a wing in 5? I wouldn't bet on it!

Non capito "jerky?"

Here's the boy at the wheel of a Hot Rod we found (with owners) at Grand Canyon a few weeks ago; at lunch; and popping a wheelie on his first motorbike.

Sure, I'll sell it separately.

The Akra system was purchased in 2005 for my previous XX (a 2000). Trial fitted it and the bodywork interfered with the header pipe slightly, just where the pipe goes horizontal. Deduced that it was actually the bike's misaligned body panels and not the exhaust. I then removed the system, packed it back up and promptly forgot about it when Other Things In Life took over. There it sat until recently when reorganizing my garage. Doh!

So, it is not new, but it was run for approximately 1 hour in 2005 and has a small bit of body plastic adhered to it from the interference (that bit is free!).

NICE jazz box!! Who made it? How much? And how high is your G.A.S. investment in total?

Now you need to farkle that with a solid ebony bridge of the right height, properly intonated -- so you can transmit ALL of the sweet tone directly to the box without adulteration by the height screws.

And of course, if you can still find them, you gotta pick it with some agate picks (is Brasilia.com** still around?).

You're still riding the Feejer, right??

**EDIT for further enablement -- Brasilia.com is gone, but here's a couple sites:

I still have one of Brasilia's agate picks -- cool tone, damn expensive (but not close to as expensive as the custom built archtop jazz box I never bought). Had a virtuoso jazz guitar teacher who used them almost exclusively.

Never thought I'd enjoy someone complementing me on my box.

It's an Eastman John Pisano model. I actually traded evenly for a PRS Custom 22 20th Anniversary model that I never really played. The J.P. model normally costs $3,495. This one had two tiny blems from shipment and therefore got a much-reduced price, which brough it in line with the value of the PRS. I gots me quite a few other guitars; too many to list here, though. G.A.S. investment total is very difficult to figure, since I've been amassing things since high school. Still have my first guitar that Dad bought me at age 7 (a Giannini classical; and I'm almost 41 now.) However, I do have 6 guitars, 5 basses, 1 banjo and 4 amps and two bass cabs. Plus, the recording gear.

The Eastman's bridge is actually ebony (tailpiece, too, but it's farkled with other exotic wood trim) and it is the right height, but the bridge does look askew. However, the intonation is right on, so I won't mess with it, unless I restring it with Thomastik Infeld flatwounds.

hehehe -- I'm a recovering GAS-a-holic. down to 3 acoustics, 3 electrics, 1 bass, 2 amps, 2 bass cabs, 1 lap steel, 1 bass pre-amp, PA amp, 16 ch. mixer, ADAT, 3 mics, a dozen harps or so, and lots of other misc. small stuff. Really wish I still had the '66 Tele I sold to buy a '67 Mustang fastback, which I traded in on a new '73 Pinto wagon. Need to sell some of the extraneous stuff I never use anymore to finance part of my NAFO trip to Colorado this summer. Which brings me back to -- you bought an FJR didn't you?
