A local shop had a free dyno run day yesterday so I braved the rain and got my happy arse over there.
I got 130hp and top speed of 151mph (in fourth). I was pretty dissapointed by the run, especially when the next bike up pulled 135hp and was an R1. I have dual micron slip-ons and a pc2. It also has the wrong plugs in it (thanks to a moron at the shop) and I forgot to tell them I lowered the front sprocket but I figured it wouldn't matter. The plugs do make a difference though, the only way it wont ping is with racing fuel :(

Hey don't worry... I took my bike up too a dyno open house day at a bike shop last yr.
the dyno was pulled behind some dudes truck. So it wasn't the best in the world.
It was about 98 deg. outside and so humid my balls were stuck to my leg for the day..
He had no air to go into the bike either...
I pulled 130 hp and hit 151 mph in forth gear, Completely Stock.
I got my ass handed to me by a busa and R1. both with full systems and PC's
Take your bike to a shop with a good dyno (air blowing into your intakes) Temp outside around 65 to 70 deg. and with as little humidiaty as possible.

What a pile of excuses. I'm certain the guy who ran 135 instead of 138 had a pile of excuses. My bike ran 132. Here is my excuse:
It's old.
Can't think of anymore, perhaps people can help me....

I've got a set of MIG high mounts and a Power Commander with a custom map for the MIGS. The guy that I bought the MIG map from had the same setup (MIG high mounts) and dyno chart the he sent me with the map shows 148.2 HP. I would assume that at speed, with the Ram air effect, I should be in the low 150s HP, but that is a guess on my part.

Every Spring I go to a local bike shop that does a HP shootout. The only thing that stops it is rain. The rear tires just slip on the drum.
How did they run bikes that day?
My bike got 135 HP on a model 150 Dynojet Dyno.

It's pretty hard to compare dyno results from one dyno to another. They all are a little different. Did they give your raw numbers, or corrected HP. (Corrected for temp and barometric pressure). Usually, they will give you the corrected figures because the corrected figures are almost always more impressive.

The rain had stopped on the way over, it was only a misting anyway.
I have no idea if it was corrected or not. Which doesn't really matter to me. I wouldn't care if it said I got 90hp, as long as everyone else there was less then 90hp :)
Whats a reasonable performance upgrade that I can do next? I don't really want to go with a 4-2-1 exhaust because I like the dual cans. I have considered NOS but unless I get a wet kit I'm not going to do it. What other options have members done? Turbo is too expensive for me btw.

Sounds like you should do some general tuning. If you need to run race gas to keep it from pinging, something's wrong. Put the correct plugs in. (what plugs did they install anyway???) Check for carbon buildup on the valves. The bird should run fine on 87 octane.

CR9EIX I believe was the plug. I replaced them yesterday with the proper Iridium plug(CR9EHIX-9) and immediately noticed a difference just in the start/idle. The plugs were visibly different in several ways, I took pictures of the plugs to post but they are at home.
It runs great again, but I'm still interested in some modifications beyond exhaust/pc and k&n filter.

How much more HP do you want?
TRANSLATION: How much do you want to spend?
How about a big bore kit, a little cleanup on the ports, and a good multi-angle racing-type valve grind. There's no replacement for displacement

I would like to stay around 1 grand and not lose reliability(or not much).
Someone posted that there wasn't much room to bore the bird, is that true?

You can easily take the 'bird to 1200. A big bore kit is around $500. The labor involved could easily add $1000 to that. Then you would need to retune your carbs/FI.
Good head work is easily another $500-1000. You save some money if you have it done while you are adding the big pistons. When that is done, you will find that your carbs/injection does not flow enough air, so you would need to address that issue.
There's always nitrous or turbocharging.
Cheapest fix for you would be to sell your slipons and install a good 4 into 1. Then spend some money on dyno time to get your air fuel set correctly.
Over the years, I've added big bore kits, ported the heads, changed cams etc. It's a great way to spend money.
My BlackBird makes enough power for me and my current riding style. If it didn't, before I started tearing into the motor, I would sell it and buy something else.

A big bore kit i.e. 11.5:1 JE pistons will set you back 550.00 minimum, add Carrillo rods for 1000.00. You can gain some by milling the head to increase compression, but then it's best to run 93 octane or better. Porting wouldn't hurt. When it's all said and done you might get 165 horsepower.
Or you could juice it and have 175-195 at your finger tips for around 600.00.
Me, well I always do things the hard (read expensive) way so turbo is called for.
