Does anyone know why my ks light stays on wether its up or down, and why I can ride with it down? I'm guessing it's the switch, but wanted to know if anyone had this problem before? Don't want to spend $40 on switch if someone has a quick fix.

Kickstand light?
Is this an analog dash thing?
I don't have one, nor will my bike run in gear with the side stand down.
I admit to never having sat on a 'bird with an analog dash so maybe it is there.

It's a carbie thing. The kickstand light was replaced with the FI light on '99 and up models.

I have no answer to the original question, but agree the switch would be an excellent place to start, maybe test it before dropping the forty clams?

You've more than likely got a bad switch. If the light is on, but you can still get it to run while it's in gear, there isn't much else it could be. The switch will kill it, so if you're still running, you've shorted across the switch.

Strange that the bike acknowledges the kickstand being down, but doesn't shut down when you put it in gear. Freaky.

Anyhow, don't spend $40 on a new switch, I got an extra one you can have cheap. Send me a PM if interested.
