I love custom seats....I had Rick Mayer do my saddle on my last bike.
But I can't afford to shell out $320 again.
Does anyone know where I can obtain an inexpensive gel pad that I might be able to fit into the seat? The only ones I've seen are the $70 covered pads that you strap over your saddle. Too beaucoup.
thanks....

I think you can buy the uncovered gell incerts from parts unlimited for about $40.

Try
www.parts-unlimited.com
edit- Sorry- I always went through my dealer and didn't know they didn't sell retail. Most any motorcycle shop has their catalog.

You don't necessarily want gel pads. What you may want is foam that does not compress as much as the stock foam. (even though it does not feel as cushy as stock when you first sit down.) On a long ride, the stock foam tends to compress completely where your weight is most concentrated, and you effectively have no padding.
Talk to a local upholestery shop. They should be able to remove your stock cover, upgrade the seat foam in the critical areas, and then put your stock cover back on. (usually at a low price)
