I've got 13k or so on my 2002XX. Since this weekend we've had nothing but rain (Noah is building an ark, I think), I decided it was time to do the clutch/brake fluid replacement that the manual says needs done at 12k miles.

With the help of my wife, I go through the Clutch, and back brake replacement pretty quickly. When I went to bleed the front brake lever bleeder at the rear brake, I found that nearly no brake fluid would come through the lines. The front brakes blead with no problems, it's just the back brake. I took the bleeder out and sprayed it out (it was a bit clogged) and tried to bleed it without the bleeder by holding your finger over the bleeder on the upstroke, but still got very little in the way of fluid when squeezing the front brake handle.

When I spin the rear tire, and sqeeze the front brake, it doesn't stop, which leads me to believe that there's a problem with either the brake line or the caliper.

Thoughts?

This should be something that's covered under my extended warranty, correct? I'm not opposed to fixing it myself if it's a simple repair, but I don't want to muck with it if it's going to be something crazy.

Rich, the front tire needs to rotate to activate the secondary master on the fork, so your stationary test won't tell you much about the front activating the rear.

Just squeezing the front lever isn't going to send any fluid to the rear, it's more complex than that. Do you have a manual?

Instead of squeezing the lever, try manually pumping the LF caliper up and down (up applying pressure to the rear) to bleed the rear caliper.

The rear caliper is applied by the LF caliper rotating, and applying pressure to the secondary master cylinder mounted right above it.
