Bummed is the word for the day here. I got my parts from the painter. I am really loving the Ducati Red but as I am going over everything out in the sun I see a shit load of dust specks, then a shit load of areas along the edges that did not get sprayed, then a run and not just one part but every piece.

I called the painter and he is going to repair the job but man this sucks. I asked some fellow riders in the area who they recommended and this painter was highly thought of in the area but shit, it looks like he needs to replace the filters in his spray booth!

Even the Honda tank decal has some air bubles under it and he sprayed over that with the clear.

Totally bummed!

I'll give him a chance to make it right. It' damned hard to find anyone that takes pride in their work anymore. Hell I could have done a better job in my garage.

I even told the guy do what it takes, I am willing to pay for quality work.

That's all just had to vent

Sounds like a rush job.....

That's probably not an "AIR" bubble under the Honda decal... it's probably a Vapor Bubble caused by the paint underneath it still drying and off gassing. If your going to clear coat over stickers.... you HAVE to make absolutly sure the paint under it is completely dry first.

And that dust you think your seeing.... is probably OIL contamination.... as you said I think... " Bad filters ".

Goodluck with the fight.

I have been in the automotive paintig industry for 20 years and I have seen this more and more, yes the shop rushed it throgh but if he was willing to let you receive your bike parts with runs, dust unpainted edges and air bubbles that to me seems like the painter is not very experenced, I would be very concerernd with letting him try again because if he screws it up again you will have to much mill thickness and that leads to a hole lot more problems. If I were you I would demand my money back and find a more experanced paint shop.

What can I say, live and learn from my mistake, I'll let him fix it and from there see what it looks like. If there is a next time I'll send the stuff to Empire GT and get it done right.

There is a guy who does decent work in my area. The problem is you can't get a hold of him when it's due to have your parts back. He doesn't return calls and it takes forever (weeks/months) to get parts back from him. Once you do, it's good work, but he's very very very unreliable. Some people there is no problem, it's just the few who catch him when he's busy..

Honestly,I would try to get my money back and take to better shop.Dirty filters have nothing to do with runs and bubbles.

If he won`t go for refund tell them you want his screwed up paint job removed and entire panels painted again, not just fucked up ares repaired

Was that just a color change job or panels have to be repaired due to damage etc ?.I would be worry about those bubbles, usually it is proof of poor surface preparation and cheap materials.

How much did you pay if you don`t mind ,,,,,,,,,,,

YOUR TELLING IT LIKE IT REALY IS, WAY TO GO. Are you in the paint and body industry also or have you been screwed over one to many times! eusa_whistle.gif

No,I`m not in industry, painting is my hobby,it is nice to have a cousin with a good spray booth and compressor. icon_razz.gif icon_razz.gif Well,I did have to buy my own guns.

Anyway, long lasting paint job has to be done right, with no shortcuts,no cheap substandard materials or it will show soon or later.

BTW I`m almost done with really, realy nice House of Kolor apple red candy over molly orange on my girlfriends YZF.Took fuel tank outside couple hours ago,in bright sunshine, awesome shine and "deepness" of the paint.

The guy picked up the panels, said he would make it right, I hope so. He charged 650 for all the whole bike not body work needed and he sprayed with Dupont Chroma Color. I checked around some more and hew is known for quality work, I didn't ask if he was the one who personally sprayed the bike or if it was one of the shop rats, he is Dupont Certified if that means anything.

Like I said, if this does not work out I'll use Empire next time.

Well good..... sort of.

The only down side MAYBE.... that you just added over 10 plus pounds to your bike for no reason. Paint is heavy... and unless he sands off all of that shit-job he did before.... well .

Goodluck.
