Just got back from a 1500 mi. trip. The last few weeks I have notices the ex. tip has alot of smout in it, the FI light has been coming on. about 700 mi. into the trip I took the PC11 off, the FI light did not come on the rest of the trip. the smout has cleared up. the bike is running better, went from 30 mpg to 43 mpg.
I don't know much about the PC11 but the light on it was on the lean position It doen't seem to have as much power on. I though about change the spark plugs.
what do you think about this. do I need to change the MAP?
OR JUST RIDE
THANKS, RON

I don't know why but at some point my PCIII "lost" it's map. I tried to read from it and I got a corrupted memory error. Reloaded my map and it's been great ever since. You might want to try that first as it's the easiest to try.

I had the same problem with my PC2 a year ago. It was free of charge replaced by Powercommander, I just payed for shipping.

I have heard that's a common problem with the PCII's
I checked out a guy's 99 this summer who had the FI light on, when I asked him what that was about he said that the local shop traced it back to his PC and that if he disconnected it it would go away and the bike would run fine. Had him do it for me and sure enough, no FI and the bike ran brilliantly

It could well be an issue with the PCII/ECU loom plugs.
You are introducing two extra sets of connectors, that is bound to increase the probabilities of a failure.
It's a good idea to take them off, spray all (male and female) with a good contact cleaner, dry them well and refit tightly.
Every little helps.
