Last month my headlights went out after our day at the track. I fixed it by soldering a wire back on the switch of the starter button. Well, since then, I've had to fix it three times. Enough........... Currently, the loose wire is now soldered to another wire so that that headlights dim slightly when the bike is started. Not sure if this is safe but I believe that this is the wire that completes the loop to make that lights work.
Anyone have a wiring harness that connects the kill switch, starter button, and front master cylinder? Name your price plus shipping to Upstate, NY. Zip code 12198.
Thanks for your help,
John

did you make sure the connection was clean before you fixed it. It could have been a cold solder joint. Or possible to much flux. Did you tin the wire first? How about the one you connected it to? Sounds to me that it may have to much stress in that area. Perhaps a little more wire or try finding why its in a bind. Seems weird that it keeps going bad in the same place.

Ditto with Chuck. See if the wire gets stress on it when reassembled.
My buds Vulcan 750 died on a ride, he trailered it to my place and with a lot of work I found a soldered wire on the bottom of the ignition switch had let go. The reason it did is there is a plastic zip tie at the connection to hold the wires from pulling on the solder connections. It had dry rotted off.
Something to check on all bikes you own it seems universal.
