I decided to send them back.
Neil at http://www.morepoweracing.com/prodtype.asp suggested getting in touch with Pete @ yoshimura first. Pete said the pipes haven't been updated since they were originally fitted in '97 and he'd take them back and use them for a fit check if they were undamaged and the bike had NOT been run with them installed. Not a problem.
Neil and Heidi @ MorePowerRacing have been prompt and a pleasure to talk to and deal with. They called when they said they would, even when it took several attempts to contact me. I had an RA# the next day with an address to send them back to. I anticipate a full refund.
Nice people to buy from and they had the best price I could find on the pipes.Greg
