on my 97 when i select 1st gear it is making a clunk eusa_wall.gif and there is a lttle movement at the rear sprocket/wheel. I am thinking it is the rubber inserts in the rear wheel............has/does anyone had dealings like this?

any................. any info greatly appreciated.

Every Honda I've owned does it. I read that it has to do with the mainshaft in the gearbox is turning while in neutral and when you drop it into first it's the gears locking in that you feel. Of course what I read was more technical than that, as I'm working from memory here bduh.gif

I've always considerd it a "Honda" thing icon_wink.gif

If it doesn't clunk, then pull, I wouldn't worry about it (maybe change the oil). It took me a while to get use-to the clunking on my '97, but now I find it comforting. At least I know it definately in gear, and not comming out, unlike my Kawi which mis-shifts regularly icon_rolleyes.gif .
