Every Honda I've owned does it. I read that it has to do with the mainshaft in the gearbox is turning while in neutral and when you drop it into first it's the gears locking in that you feel. Of course what I read was more technical than that, as I'm working from memory here
I've always considerd it a "Honda" thing

If it doesn't clunk, then pull, I wouldn't worry about it (maybe change the oil). It took me a while to get use-to the clunking on my '97, but now I find it comforting. At least I know it definately in gear, and not comming out, unlike my Kawi which mis-shifts regularly

its just annoying, and noticed that other xx's i've seen don't ...........until it gets worse will put up with it.....
cheers.,
