What the heck happened? I was washing the bird and noticed that I have a 1 inch crack in the rear cowel. It wasn't there the last time I washed it. Has anyone else seen a crack come out of nowhere before?

Pete in PA
Where did the crack start?

It started at the edge on the right underside.

Nope. No locktite.

It's more like a tear than a crack. Weird. To replace the part is like 300.00 bucks. Since it's on the underside of the panel I might try to glue it from the inside. Any recomendations of what to glue it with?

Same problem here. But I blame the wingrack and Givi boxes. It has'nt moved since I got the bike (sept. 2002).

Drill a very small hole (.030" or so) at the end of it to keep it from getting bigger. Drill that crack man! Drill it!

Check at a professional auto paint supplier, you can get a 3m glue that comes in a tube for a caulking gun and kinda resembles silicone and is used to repair small tears/cracks in the bumper skins on most cars. I sanded the rear side of a small crack and used some of the stuff, worked really well. I had that part of the fairing apart tonite and its still together and solid. Or you can try this method, but it could be hard on the paint.
