i have had my FI light on my 2000 XX coming on and going off for almost 2 years now. when the light comes on, the bike continues to run normally. the bike has been in the shop (all under warranttee) 4 times now, and they still haven't been able to fix the problem.
as i have read in other posts, it seems to be a ground issue of some sort. when the FI light comes on, turning a turn signal on will cause the FI light to blink. grabbing a brake will cause the FI light to sometimes get brighter, other times to get more dim. it is definite feedback of somesort.
honda has checked and cleaned the body ground, have checked other items on the harness, have even tried a different ECM, and a few other things, but it still comes on.
it seems to come on more when the bike gets hot
if someone has some advise, i would greatly appreciate it.

99 and 00 birds have an issue with the wiring loom where it loops under the starter relay left hand side. It collects water and corrodes the terminal block that just happens to be right at the lowest point of the loop inside the loom. Initially causes the FI light to come on for no reason as yours is but several bikes have just "died" after a time. People over here have had the loom changed when the bike has finally died or even if they just report the FI light keep coming on. BUT Honda arent calling it a fault/recall nor even acknowledging it openly just getting dealers to change it no questions asked, the loom is covered for 5 years under warranty. Believe USA Honda arent aware of this/havent been informed. The loom was rerouted from 01. This MIGHT be your problem.

Black,
I had this prob and fixed it....one prob was that 4 wire(Brass terminal) ground under the front of the seat on the tank support bar...had a bad contact(corrosion) there, clean it and tighten...next, just for shits and grins, when the bike is running, and the FI light is on, connect a jumper wire to a known good ground and touch the gas tank itself, scratch a little spec of paint off from the bottom tank mount and connect other end of jumper wire....I bet your FI light will go off. obviously a bad ground in the leg....Let me know if you try this
I also have the '00 XX
