Question-Just had the bike apart (tank off) to change the plugs and install a Pair valve kit. Ran the fuel in tank pretty low. Reinstalled everything and when the bike is running fuel gauge shows 1/4 of a tank. Rode to work and the low fuel light came on.

Do I have an issue or do I just need to fill the tank up thereby allowing the float arm to come unstuck?

Thank you

So you do or do not have an empty tank?

I think you need to fuel it.

I do have darn near an empty tank.

I usually just go ahead and get gas sometime within about 30 miles after my low fuel light goes on...

...or you can just run the bike until the engine quits, thus finding out how accurate the gauge is.

Add gas. I'm no mechanic, but I think this *may* make the fuel gauge go up

OK smartass' I know adding gas would make the gauge go up :D I guess my real question was could there be something wrong with my gauge? I did addd gass on the way home and it did go up. I am just curious why the gauge would get stuck at 1/4 a tank when the fuel level is lower than that?

Thanks

Sorry bro, your first post said you ran it low, not empty. So I thought it was normal, and didn't know if you were being funny or serious.

Now that I know you are serious.....what happened when you filled up? Did it go to full? I would suspect the float was jarred when you removed the tank and set it down. Sounds like it will be fine.

Yes when I added gas the needle on the gauge went fo F and the fuel light went off. So looks like I am good to go, thank you for confirming the stuck float.

And I am drinking!!!!!!!!!

I went for a ride today.

I noticed that the gas gauge was reading lower when I got home, than it was when I left. I may have done 80 miles. Should I run more tire pressure in the rear?
