Got a couple questions with the install

Are you having to take the nose cone off to get the retaining clip back on? so far that has been a bitch!

where are you hiding the modules?

Now for the really dumb question, when connecting the power back up what wires match up? What I have on the bike is a green wire and a blue w/white strip, which one goes to the black and which one goes to the white?

Nose cone?-----No :wink:
Take the trim pieces off the gauge surrounds. :wink:

Modules=Ballast?----I hid mine under the trim velcroed to the front of the frame. ran the wires up and around behind the gauges.

Wires?----Green is ground on the BB- Black is ground on the kit, connect the other wires and turn it on to see if you did it right, You wont damage anything if you did it backwards just flip it and you'll be allright. :wink:

how did you re connect retaining clip, did you remove the screw all the way, fuck seems like my hands are too fucking big

You don't have to take the nose off, if you have the hands of a squirrel. My hands aren't that big, but I still took the headlight/faring off just to have some room to work.

BTW, they're F'n bright!!

You didn't take the set screw off of the retaining clip did you?

The clip just swings once dislodged from the retaining clip mount.

I just reattached it after putting the bulb in with a new spacer.

why of course I did! I know have the cone off, and with it off everything that has been said makes all the sense in the world.

Product to use for the spacer, what about the foam shit that is holding the light in the packaging tube, can that be used as the space. Just trim it up a bit and seems to work fine?
Or not because of heat?

I used that as well I didn't trim it either I just took my time and fit it into the opening it worked great, as far as heat the HID run cooler than the stock bulb's but I'll keep an eye on mine and let you know if I run into any trouble. :wink:

The retaining clip fits alot tighter using the foam piece that comes with the HID bulb but it does pin back closed, I felt my hands were to big as well you just have to be a little more patient. :lol:

Anyway got it lit up and working, now just to hide the ballast. Has anyone put them up in the cone between the air intake?

I used the sticky tape pads that came with the kit and put the ballasts on the flat part od the intake tracts up in the cone almost up against the headlight assembly. I ran and coiled the cables and exciters up under the intrument pod... Concealed by the covers.

I wouldn't, for exactly that reason. It's packing material, it may seem convenient, but I'd have serious doubts as to it's ability to last long term.

Cut the collars off the stock adapters (thanks, Dion) and use those.

:D Hey guys, I have a 2002. This installation worked out pretty smooth. First, I removed the windshield and the upper covers on both sides. I changed out the bulbs and went to HOME DEPOT and bought (2) 3/4" black neoprene gromets. I threaded the wires from the bulbs thru the gromet and positioned the bulbs in their respective locations - nice fit. I the loosened only the top instrument panel bolt and tilted it towards the tank. I then dropped the HID wires down behind the instrument panel. I the put the sticky foam onto the ballasts. I then tie wrapped the ballasts on a slight angle onto the fairing stays behind the panel using a plastic nub from the headlight case touching the drilled nub on the ballast. I used (3 ) tie wraps to secure. Wires from the ballast face lateral. Its obvious what to do. It won't hit the back of instrument panel. The foam prevents vibration. I then made the power connections on both sides. I then tie wrapped the starter to the Y shaped large round tubed directly below the instrument panel on each side, and wrapped all extra wire. I wish I had photographed the installation - real clean and tight. What light!!! You do need lots of dexterity and small hands, but this is as clean as it gets. Eric 8)

That works fine with the digital dash... But for those of us with the (larger) analog dash, it's not as easy... Less open space to work with.

I'll keep an eye on it and will update on how it goes :wink:

The HID runs cooler than the stock light so I don't think it'll be a problem but if it does I'll go in and replace it.

I took the instrument cluster right out. 3 bolts, two connectors: about 5 minutes. gave me all kinds of room to work. I sticky'd the large module to the inside of the left side, and tie-wraped the smaller one on top of the headlight housing. I found an old ball-joint boot, cleaned it up and trimmed it down for the back of the bulb.

I only did the low beam. the first thing I noticed was how yellow the high beam looks compared to it. The HID is almost pure white, just a hint of blue. verrrry nice. I get to try it out Sunday morning. I have to be on the road by 6:30 am if I'm to meet Mikey for breakfast.
