Full Version: Power Commander = Hotter Blackbird?

I just installed a PCIII on my Bird and I have to say that it does make a very noticable difference. When I took it out for a test run the other night I think I fell a little more in love with the bike.

I DID notice that the Bird seemed to run hotter in town when I was observing the speed limit a little more closely. Has anyone else noticed an increase in temperature or was my Bird angry cause I was making it go soo sloooow?

Thanks,
Furious

Didja end up leaning it out on the bottom end? That could result in more heat. However, it has been FUCKING HOT lately.

I just ran with the preloaded program for now, haven't gotten around to exploring it too much. Only change to the bike is JRed's PV removal kit.

That'll be entirely dependant on what map you run. Leaner= hotter, richer= cooler. Most maps I've seen do lean out the bottom end, most notably at smaller throttle openings.

I asked Power Commander about this, here is their reply

It's possible temp may raise slightly, the bike is quite rich and we are removing fuel to improve performance. Combined with a hotter climate, this is normal. There is no danger of harming the bike. If it was lean enough to cause damage, it would run terribly. It is recommend that you use a similar map for your exhaust, like M113-006, this is slightly richer and should help lower temp.
