Cabinfever found his tire flat the other day on his FJR. I soaped it and the bead was leaking on both sides so I broke it down and the bead was dirty. So I cleaned it up and I got it to seal. My question/comment is his avon tire was a PIA to get off and put back on. Just wondering if avons are harder to spoon on or the dish is not as deep on the yammy. It couldn't be me I am sure of that Ha Ha. I have not messed with any avons before this one but I have done michilins, bridgestones and others but none were the pain that the avon was. Just curious.

MileHi
The FJRs use a "B" carcass rear tire... That somabitch has a REAL stiff sidewall...

Had no problem with mine when new, even less when used. Used the longer tire spoons with great luck (2 of them helps a lot)

I've only done about five rears so far, but I noticed no big difference when I mounted Chris' Avons three weeks ago. Not the "B" version, though.
MileHi
Helped a buddy with his "B" Avon rear on his FJR... Used my 20" tire irons too... The B carcass is designed for the heavyweight ST bikes... FJR, BMW and (I think) Honda ST... The B is substantially stiffer than the regular model... We looked like the Three freakin' Stooges trying to mount that beast
Nyuk... Nyuk... Nyuk...

The tire is the B model and it sounds like that is the reason why it sucks. Thanks again for another question answered.
