and it left a layer of adhesive on my tank. We have GooGone but is that the safest to use to remove it?

The edges had all pulled up so while doing the post ride de-bugging, I just pulled that ugly pad off. I would put another one there but it may cover up part of my red wings

Did you say "red wings"?

Goo Gone will work great. Get a smaller tank protector, or apply one and paint your wings onto it and clear it.

you got a problem with my red wings?

Thanks Donnie, I'll give the Goo Gone a try tomorrow and probably go pad-less until I come across something I like.

I used bug&tar remover to remove the tank pad off of my old YZF. I used a bug scrubber with very, very light pressure. Rinsed with lots of water, towel dried, then applied 3 coats of 3m wax to the entire tank. Perfect results. Not a scratch, smudge or anything. Just like it was never there.

Goo Gone worked great! I did re wax it as it looked a little dull after all the scrubbing! Thanks!
