Not on my bike. Carbs work great. :poke:

Eliah washed his 02XX and now it runs rich and
the FI lite glows steady wet fouled the plugs.

What has he done?

HELP!!!!!!!!!!

I can't imagine just washing the bike hurt anything unless he used a high pressure washer and flooded the ECM or something. Did he wash it with the seat off or something?

There are two categories of "FI Light Stays Lit" in the '99-'00 manual. The '02 may be a little different.

1) Engine won't start.
-open or short in ECM power line
-faulty engine stop relay
-faulty engine stop switch
-faulty ignition switch
-faulty bank angle sensor
-faulty ECM
-blown main fuse B(30A)
-blown engine stop fuse (10A)
-blown fuel pump fuse (30A)
-open circuit in engine stop switch ground wire
-engine stop switch off

2) Engine operates normally.
-short circuit in the malfunction indicator wire
-short circuit in service check connector wire
-faulty ECM

I'm not sure which one best describes his engine. It runs, but not normally. Is everything dried out? Could the service plug be soaked?

Anyway, get a copy of the FI troubleshooting guide out of the manual and follow the instructions to reset the system.

The glowing FI may indicate a bad ground or a short in the harness.

Check the grounds to the frame.

Does it change when you flip the high beam switch or t.signals ?

Could this be a manifestation of the dreaded wiring loom malfunction?

Won't be the connector/loom problem that only affects 99-00 bikes

That's what I think too. Always hearing about troubles with FI bikes while the carbed bikes just keep on running.

When Eliah's XX is started (cold) it will high idle. FI lite blinks 9 times then pauses. Continues this pattern endlessly. Once warm, it idles down and runs real rough. Seems to to run "ok" from about 2500 rpm up.
The FI light continues this pattern.

Does this 9 count mean anything?

Doesn't change during any switching.

Loose or poor contact on IAT sensor. Open or short circuit in IAT circuit wire. Faulty IAT sensor.

As much trouble as I have had with the harness and ECM I knew right where to look for his answer.
