My bike lost a drive chain master link, and the chain took out the case. This was in April. I set out to get a set of cases, and install my known good internals into a replacement case. I just finished putting it back together, and went for a ride for the first time since April, this weekend.

This is to thank the people who lent their assistance along the way:

Northman:
There's a beer in my fridge for you. Thanks many times over for the assistance for the numerous questions I had from the beginning. I followed the instructions you offered in each case, and I must say that you know your shit. If I thanked individually for each of the times I asked for assistance, nobody would get to the end of the thread. Thanks again.

Rockmeupto125:
You offered me your case, and then pointed me out to another one on ebay, which I eventually wound up with. Most people probably would have stopped communicating with me after I decided not to go with the parts you were selling, but not you. Very gracious and very helpful. Reading over your posts is most entertaining as well. Reading about the NeXXt really shows how much graciousness and helpfulness you bring to the community. Thank you, Joe.

ar50racer:
It took some doing, but thank you for selling your motor to me, and more importantly, dealing with all of the issues in getting it here. Much luck and fortune to you, with some of the injuries I've heard and read about this year, you're gonna need it.   Thanks much, Paully.

speedygeezer:
I can't take off the swingarm without the tool you lent. Much thanks, and I plan to return it to you soon. I will PM you for the details. Looking forward to another one of Matey Peeps' BBQ meets.

xrdracer:
Thanks very much for your work on sourcing the master, I wouldn't have gotten it as quickly without it. Good luck on your bike.

Redbird:
For the help on the master, as it turns out, I didn't need it. No matter, it's nice to know that there's another avenue to get the parts if need be. Also, thanks for sending me the photos of your bike, it weighed heavily on my decision to paint my swingarm black.

Thanks to you all, I really appreciate it.

My pleasure, Jay.

Projects are much more fun when you're not the one opening the wallet

I had no idea that we'd be on the road within a couple weeks of each other when this all started, however :???:

Now, keep that damn thing together! I'll pick my beer on my next trip through, but I want a fresh one, dammit!

Glad to hear you are back on the road.....almost in time for winter maintainance!

Glad to hear you're back on the road, J

As far as my small contibution, it was mostly just passing along info I got from others here, what goes around comes around. Happy to help, such as it was.

I was just gonna email you to see how your project was coming along and I find this thread. :) :) This coming Friday looks like a nice day for a jaunt.......

Will try...

Of course we'd go get beer. You'd probably want something from home, and I don't keep too much of that around. I do know where to get such things, though.

No shit! At least it's better than it could be. I could be living way up north, and just finished putting a serious land rocket together.

Hoping that Kansas has as mild a winter as the summer we just had.

Was entertaining reading about you and Motobeagles Arizona trip. I need to do one of those sometime, I grew up in Arizona and very much miss it.

It does. I'll be back in ICT around six, maybe earlier. We'll have to cross paths this weekend, so that I can return that tool!
matey_peeps
glad to hear you're back on the road! the nice thing about kansas is that i really only take february off, all the other winter months usually allow at least some riding time.

good on ya!

Hell, yeah.

I think it will have to be Laguna Seca. Gonna take two weeks out there, and that won't leave much for the rest of the year. Looking forward to it nonetheless.

Well Guys, I live in San Jose. Just 60-70 miles from Monterey. I have a couple of rooms already and got my Flagroom tickets, but we could meet at my place and dump excess gear. I'll be taking the truck down  , as my daughter will be going with me to the races all three days..she loves 'em  ....Howie

Fucking OUCH, Howie!

Got any pics?

But you know, this is good excuse to go out and get a digital camera this weekend. Any recommendations for a REALLY CHEAP one, like $100 or less ? I don't need all the bells and whistles, just take a friggin pic and down load. I already have Pentax and Nikon film units.

I should know tomorrow, hopefully, if they are totaling thebike. I really hope they don't, I just got a personal email from Marchesini that the wheels will be on my doorstep on or about Nov.5th. As for the camera, I am goingto go pick one up this weekend. I really hate getting certain things mail order. If I fix the bike, I won't buy any of the cosmetic stuff mail order, to much a pain in the ass if it has to go back for some reason.
I'll let you know asap when I hear about the bike. If they do say good-bye Blackbird then there will be some nice stuff available for a XX !
