The 99' XX has 26,000 miles and the front is getting mushing in corners. I'm asking for advice on the value of a racetech fork kit as compared to say taking the bike into a suspension specialist for rework. Another option is to just change out the fork fluids and see where the bike is at.

Please share your observations.

Thanks

Most guys have either one or the other, with none that I'm aware of having tried both methods.

I went with the professional suspension expert reworking my stock valves, but have yet to have ridden the bike with the setup.

Dan Kyle will rework the forks, including springs for about $420, IIRC.

I've taken my RC51 to the GPS guys and they do good work. The XX's front shocks are not like the SP2s though so I'm not sure I would get the same bang for the buck.

Have you changed the fork oil? It should be changed at every major service (15000miles? 24000kms) If it hasn't been changed then that will definatly make a differance.
