Hi ppl,

I am keen to upgrade the rear shock on the XX, but am unsure of which way to jump. My options are to rebuild a cbr900 shock - cost under AU$500, or go with a Technoflex custom but no compression damping adjsutment - AU$1000, or the Ohlins/Technoflex with compression damping adjustment - AU$1600 ish....

Any advice? I am leaning toward the CBR900 for price, or go the technoflex with no compression adjustment...

You might consider a Penske. Traxxion Dynamics has some good prices sometimes.

This is an old thread, but...

I ran the 900 shock for about 15K, and it is a "HUGE" improvement over the stocker, especially considering the price they can be had for.

The aftermarket shocks are better, yes, but if money is a consideration...

I have been running the 900 now for about 1500kms.. It is SWEET!

I am sure that the afters will be better, but I am very happy with it esp. considering it was about half the cost of an Ohlins/White Power etc.

What spring have you been using on it?

I used the 16kg Racetech, and found it a bit soft for anything but solo riding.

For my 90kgs... +/- 30mm sag front and rear.... 5mm shock shim 950lbs Eibach rear & 1kg Eibach front it works a treat solo.

Haven't tried 2-up yet but I am on the softest pre-load setting. Seeings as the 900 shock has a ramp style adjuster it'll be a sinch to step up a click or two :)
