Zero Knievel Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 I cleaned this up before taking the photo. The crud you see could be wiped out with some elbow grease and WD-40. The whole cylinder was brown, and I notice that this is the same "brown" I see building up on my tailpipes that needs to keep being polished off. What's causing it and is it "normal" or should I be worried? Quote

HANKSXXX Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Gas deposits caused by reversion... Not to worry... Quote
Warp11XX Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 +1 Seems to me like the fuels with the higher octane additives are a bit worse about leaving this type residue behind. Hasn't caused me any problems in the many moons since discovery... Quote
EVLXX Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Fuel Varnishing...... Normal. No need to wipe, just spray with carb cleaner. Quote
