Hobicus Posted September 22, 2003 Posted September 22, 2003 Pulled my rear tire off today, as I'm going to swap my dead Avon (6.5k mi) for a live one, and decided I better check the brake pads, as I noticed a discoloration (but can't feel a groove, so I think it's OK) in the rotor. Here's the picture: The question: Are the brake pads the same, front and back? The fronts need it to, so I figure I might as well order 3 sets. From my searching, the EBC HH seems to be the prefered pad, but makes your brakes a bit grabby. What comes stock? Quote
XX Posted September 22, 2003 Posted September 22, 2003 i have ebc hh's front and back, all are the same (261's i believe). i'm on my 2nd set for the rear. i like 'em, although i've only had experience with the stockers then the hh's. i haven't noticed grabiness but i do ride a whole lot (3k per 4 weeks) so i'm pretty comfortable with whatever immediate braking their giving me  i haven't gotten any marks on my rotors like yours though :headscratch: Quote
XXTi Posted September 22, 2003 Posted September 22, 2003 Please double check me, but I don't remember the front and rear pads being the same. I replaced stock pads with black Galfers and the rear pads were different than the fronts. Quote
SwampNut Posted September 22, 2003 Posted September 22, 2003 The stock pads are slightly different, but replacement pads are all the same. Sounds odd, but the difference in the stockers is irrelevant. I've use OEM, Galfer Green, Galfer Black, EBC HH, and SBS Sintered Street. Galfer Green is my favorite, but they are mushy in the rain. Galfter Black is my close second choice, with no rain issues. Both are much gentler on the rotors than EBC, and much more predictable. Quote
bhanxx Posted September 22, 2003 Posted September 22, 2003 Geez Rich, I thought i ran my rear pads down thin, but u beat me (not by much though). My fronts had a lot left yet. Went with EBC HH front and rear with just over 16k. EBC HHs have much better initial bite plus stop harder w less pull, wish i would have swapped out fronts when brand new. I just hope the EBC HHs aren't too much too soon too quick for an emergency stop in the wet, i have to remember to relearn myself next time i have wet pavement w no traffic around. Quote
