HamrTym Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 When working on your bikes, such as removing/replacing forks, tires, etc., what do you use to support the bike. A bike jack? Saw one at Sears but using the oil pan as a resting spot for the jack to raise the bike seems scary to me. Is the pan strong enough? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks. Rob Quote
Redbird Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Pitbull stands. Yep. Although I did use the oilpan for years with no issues. It is strong enough, just not real stable. Quote
JasonW Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 Don't get that Sears jack. It's intended for tubular framed bikes or ATVs and difficult to use on a sport bike. It can be done, but it's more of a pain in the ass than anything. So far I've been able to do everything by simply using the centerstand and a floor jack under the oil pan. It's cheap and simple. Like Tim said, it's not quite as stable as the pitbull stands, but it's not bad if you're careful. If you break free all of the tough bolts before jacking it up, there's really no problem. Quote
