Pete in PA Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 I read an article on fairing repair in Sport Rider. Called a plastic supply house and got some Weld On #3. supposed to melt, then instantly weld cracks in ABS. Totally inert, did nothing. Our fairing is NOT ABS. So what is it? What will fix my small cracks in my seat cowl? Quote
JasonW Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 IPS Weld-On #3 won't work on ABS as you found out. It's really made for acrylic. It's strange that I can't find the markings that show what the tail section is made from. I know that the upper is ABS and the lowers are PPE (polyphenylene ether). By the looks of the breaks on my tail section, I would guess it to be ABS. I would recommend going back to the plastic supply house and exchanging the Weld-on for something that is designed specifically for ABS. Quote
AZITPRO Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 Try this stuff it works great, I have used it. http://www.urethanesupply.com/storeplastifix.html Quote
Pete in PA Posted June 24, 2005 Author Posted June 24, 2005 If the lowers are indeed different, and the upper and seat cowl are the same, I need to try again. I tried on the lower. Quote
