Carrying a motorcycle on a truck...ramp, hitch carrier...both...
tomek replied to SwampNut's topic in The Garage
The dude, not Swamp, is probably the only person in United States, that includes cops, who gives fuck about speed limit while towing small trailer. And he is wrong. Montana, for example, has 75 mph speed limit for heavy trucks. That would be 18 wheeler. Pretty much same in Idaho. Can't imagine it would be lower for pick up towing small trailer. I'm guessing real reason is retarded layout of charging stations. Very few are gas station type pull thru. It either back aor pull in in case of EVs. That means dropping trailer every time you need charge. Very enjoying. -

Bike carrier attached to travel trailer is the answer. It should be possible to attach receiver to the frame of travel trailer, or do permanent attachment of the carrier. -

Trailer would be my first choice as well as long there is convenient place to store it. I know it is EV so range reduction when towing could be a bitch but Rivian punches much bigger hole in the air vs. Tesla 3, it should be almost none issue in case of small trailer. My little utility 5x8 trailer has tilted bed, I don't even fuck with the ramp. No ramps. Wheel chuck in the nose, couple straps, and, boom, ready to roll. About 20 % mpg drop, but I tow with Volvo XC70, essentially lifted station wagon. Not much of frontal area. -
Definitely ground issue. Taillight assemblies are grounded to the body of the trailer. I'd take a look there. I have one on those tilting bed utility trailers. I got tired of chasing disappearing ground and run dedicated wire from electric plug to the bed of the trailer.

Would they fit side by side in the bed? If answer is yes I would not fuck with motorcycle carrier. I'd imagine securing hitch mounted one to prevent unwanted movement is PITA. Also, if you keep one bike in the bed and another one on carrier, and you happen to want to use one in the bed you would have to remove one on carrier, etc. anyway. Too much work. So, I would, if that is possible, load motorcycles on the bed. -
Have you tried starting fluid?

*SOLD* 1997 CBR1100XX Blackbird for sale
tomek replied to Chewtoy's topic in The Sales Floor -- For Sale/Wanted
I'm not nostalgic about ICE vehicles unless there is something unique in technical areas, design, etc. So, I have second gen rx7 turbo, because of engine- Wankel. Turbine smooth. Also, I still have 2004 R1. It was last generation with 5 valves. Yamaha went 4 valves starting in 2007. 5 valves offer unique, sharper throttle response due to the nature of intake flow of 3 valves vs. 2 valves. We in era of pussification of motorcycle markets, 600s and 1000s race replicas don't sell, and Japanese are dropping those bikes one by one. I'll probably keep my cross plane 2016 R1 since it is, most likely going dinosaur. Unique engine design. Gonna have to convert from track to street bike. On the other hand I was not emotionally attached to XX, it was pretty typical bike for the era. -
WTB: Anybody Have a Cell Phone For Sale
tomek replied to rockmeupto125's topic in The Sales Floor -- For Sale/Wanted
My personal phone is Verizon, work tablet T-Mobile. Outside of bigger population canters T-mobile sucks. Still. About 25-30% of times I gotta upload pics and documents using my phone vs work tablet because it takes forever on latter in rural areas. Same for Geotab or electronic logbook. It will loose signal here or there creating issues. T mobile. I've installed Geotab on my phone as a back up in case I got pulled over, cop wants to see my logs, and it happens in T-Mobile dead spot. it happened once, thinks Elvis cop was cool- " ok, I let you fix it, be back in 15" -
You can always claim trailer is from Wisconsin. Title and plates are optional in the land of cheese.

I need to start eating breakfast, but I really hate it
tomek replied to SwampNut's topic in Diet & health exchange
Once upon the time I decided to start eating breakfast 🥞. Why? Because everyone says you supposed to do it. Normally I don't eat shit till I feel like it, although strong coffee is mandatory first thing in the morning. So, no food for first 2-3 hrs after waking up. During that experiment with eating proper breakfast I just ended up eating whatever I would normally eat, plus that breakfast. Fail. I went back to previous eating regime after couple of weeks. I'd say all of us have natural eating clock, no need to change it. I'm just like my mother, we don't eat in the morning. She is 86 years old, and in very good health. -
Lol. I told you to get something like that years ago when you were in full drama queen mode over transporting bimmer on your little pickup. Circle of life. Btw back then you said there was no room for it in your yard.

People will do amazing things instead of getting proper tool.

Not necessarily. Not saying you are wrong but sometimes spacers supposed to crash to establish proper clearance or lash, etc. Hence stupid tightening force. Remember, you are dealing with German Engineering don't try to apply logic.
