  1. If you do not correct your speedo your mileage will calculate the same, but you will be off 10% so instead of 40mpg you will be getting 36mpg. I run 16/47 which is 13.1% as I recall. Prior to the speedo healer I got 40mpg and after if went down to about 34mpg. It's hard to keep the conditions the same. Even on a trip one blasts through the gears sucks down a pint and throws off the calculation.
  2. The Fuel Pressure Regulator or FPR is very easy to change. The later FPRs are slightly higher pressure and should give better performance. Turbo City will sell a even higher pressure one. See my mods below. Changing the FPR is simple; just lift the rear of the tank and it is on the right end of the fuel rail. If the FPR is bad fuel will be in the vacume line when you pull it off. You may have rust. Look with a flashlight. Siphon some fuel out into a clear container and look for rust. Siphon all the fuel if it is old. A can of Sea Foam is a good idea. I would run that through and see how the bike performs prior to having them professionallly cleaned. I would change the oil and filter twice. The first time just to flush most of the fuel out you can use some cheap oil.
  3. I suggest a muti compound (hard down the center) set in a street/touring tires. I was told go with the 180 unless you get a wider rim (and that may not clear.) If you hit a lot of rain I would try the new Michelin. Looks cool anyway.
  4. Might have to go to JC Witney for something like that!
  5. Fuel Pressure Regulator: Getting a higher pressure FPR seems to be an all around improvement. The bike runs smoother and seems to have more power. If you have an 99-00 model I understand you can just get a $50 stock FPR from the 01-03 years. Someone did a write up. I have an 03 so I went and got a $130 one which I understand is a modified stock unit. Turbo City will “tune” one if you have a full system. The money was well spent is way less than a PCIII.
  6. I've had one for 3 years now. I bought the larger one xxx14yy and removed the rubber bumpers from the bottom of the battery box.
  7. My 2003 has done 40 miles from blinking several times on trips and always still had 1/2 a gallon. I was getting >40mpg. That was using an uncorrected speedo.
  8. Post here in the WTB. I bet someone has one. Contact anyone who is parting out a bike. Buy one and resell it. http://cgi.ebay.com/Honda-CBR1100XX-Super-...=item439fd45bc6
  9. K&N filters need to be cleaned. If it is not clean start there. Pull a plug and see it it's white, tan, or black. Light tan is what you want. Do a good hard run. What color is the exhaust? If it is black you are running rich. Try running 10% Ethanol. If you are running rich that should lean out the mix and it should run better. When you go full throttle do you have the same problem? Full throttle you are on the main jets so you can get an idea if those are too big. Mains are not adjustable so if they are too big you need new ones. People tend to think more is better so when they re-jet they add too much fuel. You may want to see what you have or just get a Stage 1 kit. If the bike runs good at full throttle but rich at part throttle you can change the clip position on the needles. Other than that, you need a good tuner with a dyno and an exhaust gas analyzer.

    Oops

How many miles? Looks like a lot of surface dirt. I have 3 years and 22,000 on my original plugs with no problems.
  11. Get HIDs now - thank me later. No kidding, they are great and may even save your life. I run 35W high and low beam 4300K which look natural white. Many cars pull over to let me by even on low beam in the daytime. Most cars will pull over if I hit the high beam. At night you can actually see better than in a normal car. The only problem is in corners the beam pattern still dips even on high beam. Plus you are saving 20W (55W- 35W) on low beam and another 30W on high beam (65W - 35W). That may save your whole charging system.
  12. I have these and they really sound great. They block a lot of the outside noise but not too much. They fit all the way down in your ear so they don't hit your helmet putting it on or taking it off.
  13. Nice bike! Better than new at 1/2 the price. Glad it stayed in the dysfunctional inbreed family. :icon_shifty:
  14. Fixed that for you. Graham, you have my apologies for the distraction as well. Stellar work on the bike. Just can't leave it alone can you? Why don't you just hit ignore? I tried but for whatever reason I can't add you to my ignore list. Alright, here is the explanation. Some of the first comments on the bike were negative on the looks. Mine, CBRBear and even CBRxxGuad was non-committal or about dogs, VFRs - to each his own kind of thing. I was kind of negative on the looks too. So what did I write? "The rest just looks like a bird. I don't think anyone has improved the classic lines. The best I saw was putting the turn signals in the tail. Perhaps you are asking the wrong crowd (except for Hanksxx)." All I was trying to do was make the guy feel better by saying "PERHAPS people who love the birds classic lines may not like the angular fender and boxey rear as much as the general population." I was NOT saying "No one here is going to like that bike" and again I WAS trying to make the guy feel better about some negative comments. Plus there was a jab at Hank who seemed to jab at CBRBear. Whatever. I did NOT care about the "Speak for yourself" but took offense to the "go crawl in a hole" to which my response was +/- "fuck off".
