  1. OK, sounds good. I know where Hayesville is....we've travelled it between Murphy, NC and Franklin, NC before. You'll certainly be in an area with some great roads. I haven't been down that way lately, but will probably get a chance to ride there a few times on the new GT when the weather warms up a bit.
  2. Oscar.....the driving force behind my/our decision to get the Spyder was fairly straightforward. Peggy and I both rode our own bikes for years and years. Then, in late 2019, she got to the point that her right knee was going to have to be replaced....completely. At that point, she had a fear that even if the surgery was completely successful, that the replacement knee might be an issue as far as her being able to hold it up when coming to a stop. We enjoyed riding two up sometimes, even though we both still had our individual bikes, we also had the ST1300 Sport Touring bike. We sold that back in 2017 or there abouts, so when the knee surgery thing came up (Jan 15th, 2020), we decided that we would sell our bikes and get the Spyder. They are plenty big for two people, lots of storage area with side bags, a rear trunk, and a front trunk or as they call them.....a "frunk". We enjoyed having the Spyder, but to be completely honest, it's just not the same as being on two wheels. I've ridden since 1971 and to "turn" through corners vs. leaning and counter-steering, just wasn't nearly as exciting and fun.....for either of us. Two wheels is in my blood and I finally decided to sell the Spyder and pursue a capable "Sport Touring bike".....just not one that is heavy.....like Gold Wings, FJR, STs and such. When I discover the new Suzuki GSX-S1000GT and GT+ and it weighs in at 497 lbs without the side bags, that lit up a light for me.....sport touring capable, much lighter weight than those mentioned, hard bags that are detachable, and enough room for both of us to be comfortable and not feel cramped. I picked up the new one today in fact, and the Spyder left here this morning before I drove to get the new bike. I would recommend the Spyder.....if...you are no long able to ride two wheels, but want to still be on a "motorcycle" type vehicle.... Oh, and there are some mods that can be done to the Syders to make them handle better. This most common and effective one is the Baja Ron front sway bar....instead of the factory front sway bar. When I got mine and took it for a ride for the first time in some twisty stuff, I almost ran off the shoulder of the road because when they are ridden a bit hard, the front sway bar was not/is not stiff enough to keep the machine from leaning out away from the turn. The net result is that it causes you to drift off of your line and head towards the shoulder of the road, on say a lefthand turn....in other words....OH SHIT. It's easily correctable by just letting off the throttle a bit and slowing down, but that's not my idea of how to get through a corner. And the fact that you are "turning" the bars in the direction of the turn instead of leaning and counter steering, just didn't get it for me. So I bought and installed the Baja Ron sway bar and it stiffened it up enough to pretty much keep the bike from leaning away from the corner.
  3. Not being a "knife guy", what makes this one have that kind of price? Not interested in buying or bidding, just curious.
  4. Price has been reduced by $2500 .....as per suggestions on the Can Am Spyder forum I'm on. Now it is considerably below NADA...
  5. Here is the link for it on Cycle Trader.... https://www.cycletrader.com/listing/5023635835 This paid listing has expired....but the Spyder is still for sale. If you want some info on it and are interested, PM me and I can provide pics and info.....and the current selling price.
  6. Yea, the GSXR is gone and the ST1300 is gone......we are down to two motorcycles here....one each!
  7. Are you done....or are you going back to a GSXR? GLWS!
  8. Big congrats John on both the new house and the new bike. I hope the weather issues don't affect you much, if at all and hopefully you'll be riding it soon and get settled into the new digs.
  9. Thank you guys. He and his wife drove down from close to Philadelphia, PA and trailered it back. His wife told Peggy that he didn't hardly sleep last night at the hotel because he was so excited. Nice couple and he's go 10+ years of riding several different larger bikes, so it should be in good hands.
  10. Bike was SOLD this morning! Thanks for looking everyone.
