  1. Thanks fellas. I didn't even think about the pins. Lubed them up with caliper grease today. 165K miles, regular maintenance. Rotors and pads (and everything lubed, to include the pins) replaced two years and 40K miles ago.
  2. Not XX specific, but could use some help in understanding my problem. I drove my Odyssey home for about 500 miles and parked it. No problems on the drive. Doing some maintenance a week ago, I shot some WD-40 in to the upper strut bushings to quiet them down from squeaking over bumps. Now, I seem to have a burned brakes smell from the wheel on that side. So I thought okay maybe some of the WD-40 got onto the rotors and is burning off. But, I felt an awful lot of heat coming from that wheel. So I took my IR gun and measured the rotor temp at 280F. I go around to the other side and it only reads 70F. Did WD-40 have something to do with my rotor getting so hot?? If so, WTF?? How does that happen? I thought it would get the same amount of hot as the other side, regardless of any overspray or dripping.
  3. Man, I've been itching to get back on an XX. You just made me want it more!
  4. Where are you guys buying batteries these days? I went to www.motorcyclebatteriesusa.com but the site isn't coming up. They went out of business?
  5. For their girlfriend?! Hell, I'd love to have that bike for myself! Would make a very nice commuter.
  6. JB4XX: Your box is on it's way! I got all the items together and headed out to the post office. I got a large flat rate priority mail box and packed it all in there. I then went to the counter and asked if they would tape my package shut. The girl behind the counter told me, "the post office no longer provides tape." What?! I said, "I'm using a priority mail box, I just need the priority mail tape that goes with it." She again said the post office no longer provides tape, and that I'll have to tape it shut myself! WTF?! So, back home I went, to get some tape. Bastards...
  7. You mean, like this? PM me your address and I'll get you the shipping charges. Any preferred shipping method? USPS Priority Mail? UPS?
  8. I've been toying with the idea of selling my EMap. Sure, there are tons of better GPS units on the market today, but when I bought it, it was pretty cool! I had this mounted on my XX and haven't had a need for it since I sold my XX last summer. I still can't believe I've been without a bike since, as I had planned on finding a nice used ST1100. But, that hasn't panned out yet. But don't fret! I still ride! Well, at least I did up until I moved here to Las Vegas a few weeks ago. I was working for an outfit in Whittman, AZ test riding motorcycles. Pretty sweet job. Usually did 400+ miles per 8 hour shift just riding around the Phoenix area and a little beyond. Basically, I was getting paid to do what I used to do every weekend, for free! But I digress... Garmin EMap, with RAM mount, and USB cable. Ebay has several listed right now starting at $20 and going as high as $90, just for the EMap. I'm thinking $50 (plus actual shipping) is a fair price to ask for this. Especially since I think I paid at least that for the RAM mount. Why would you want the EMap when there are clearly other units out on the market that does a lot more and looks a hell of a lot better? Well, hopefully you'll have a need for an inexpensive GPS just to keep your bearings while out riding and that it's easily mountable to your bike. What do I mean by just to keep your bearings? Well, the basemap is all that's installed, which gives you all the major roads. And street level is only available in the larger cities. I know I have more pictures of this EMap mounted on my bike, but I can't seem to find them. This is the only one I found, but it's such a small component in the picture. This shot was taken down some desolate road in New Mexico, when I was on my Iron Butt SS1000. What you're probably noticing after looking at the full size image is that plastic bag around the EMap. It was lightly raining that day, so I ate my sandwich and then put my EMap in the ziplock bag to help keep it from getting wet. No, none of the mustard leaked out of the sandwich, so the EMap is not crusty. Here's a current picture of the EMap. I just took this photo on my kitchen counter. Of course, when I tried to power it up for the photo, the thing beeped at me a few times and shut down. So, included with your order will be two fresh AA batteries! And, something totally unrelated. I came across my old Sony XM-4045 amplifier when I was cleaning out my garage. 4/3/2 channel power amplifier with MOSFET, high pass and low pass filters, 40W x 4 or 80W x 2. I guess the 3 channel setup would be 40W x 2 and 80W x 1. Geez, I don't even know what these go for, so how about $5 plus actual shipping? First replies to this thread takes either items or both. Just let me know what item you want and PM me your shipping address. I'll reply with what the shipping costs will be after I get these things weighed and get your zipcode.
  9. Gone. I might be able to get more. If anyone is interested, let me know.
  10. Garmin StreetPilot c530 $250 shipped. I have two of these for sale. New, in box. Bought them new. Never used. One was for me, one was for my father-in-law for Christmas. However, I decided to buy a GPSMAP 96C to take with me flying. After discovering I can use it for driving as well, I decided to sell the c530. And then, I found something else to get for my father-in-law for Christmas so I decided to sell the one I bought for him, too. If you want one, let me know soon. If I don't get any responses in a week or two, they're both going back to the store for a refund.
  11. Ah, thanks. I'll remember that. I went to Lowe's tonight and visited the vinyl section. I couldn't find any vinyl glue. Just "flooring" glue with a picture of hardwood panels on it. I'll look at Home Depot tomorrow.
  12. I'll have to look the next time I'm out. I have a tube of Kwik Seal Tub & Tile Adhesive Caulk that came with the house. This is what I use for the vinyl next to the tub?
  13. When I first bought my home, I had all the intentions of installing hardwood (maybe Pergo or such) floors but didn't want to pay the outrageous builder costs to have them install it when they built the house. So I opted for vinyl. Other three years later, I still haven't installed the floors. In fact, I'm getting ready to move. When I spoke to the relator, they said not to worry about any upgrades at this point because the way the market is around here, it won't raise the value of the home. Looking around the house, there are a few areas that the vinyl is coming up at the seams. A few places down the hall and also at the junction of the floor and tubs. How do I fix it? Do I need to pull it up and reapply glue? Or can I just squeeze some glue down there and press it back down again?
  14. I get messages saying I'm subscribed to threads that are getting created. Threads I never even been in. Why is this happening? It started happening this past weekend.
  15. Thanks for the PM nickc2s (Steve) and the offer to help. But what I responded to you in PM got it fixed! It's good to know XX'ers are always here to help. The Verdict Okay, went back to the store. Since I saw 3500W on the side of the element, I bought another one ($8) that said 3500W on it. When I started to install it, I realized the new one said 2500W on it! Then I realized it says 2500W on one side and 3500W on the other. So I picked up the old one and it said 4500W/3500W. Doh! Back to the store. Now, armed with my 4500W/3500W ($21!) element, I proceeded to install it. Powered up. Heard some low whining sound. Guess it's working. After about 20 mins, tried the hot water. Yep! Now, next year when I go to drain the tank again, I know what NOT to do!
