  1. youve sold me on the braided line redbird. now how and where do i buy one just like that. summit racing doesnt list the actual line but would sell the necessary bits. what bits do i need to order and how would i go about putting it together? tools? know how? ive got my card in hand here looking to buy before i take my next crap.
  2. Fi. And thanks for the quick response. Was gonna install a line filter but guess it wouldn't do much good on a return line. I got to looking at my fuel lines this morning and opted to replace em all. Done now except for that big one on the left. Can an auto parts store get me one or will I need to order one through a mechanic?
  3. Does fuel flow fron the tank to the engine via the big fat hose with the crimped metal thingys on the ends or through the smaller hose with the simple hose clamps. The big one is on the left side of the engine and the smaller one is on the right.
  4. CRIPES! you move fast! thanks for the info. ima give it a try tomorrow.
  5. I have been trying to clean the chain and rear sprocket but have to work like hell for every inch. is there a solvent or a magic brush that I don't know about? im using a rag. nothing else. the crap seems to be made of sand/dirt and chain lube. help!
  6. After looking for a good spot I came to the conclusion that it was too risky to be involving my more expensive toys in this little fling. Every place I look theres patches of sand, glass nuggets, oil, more sand, old people (who frown on everything fun), etc. etc. Im just not secure enough in my abilities to be risking a (thus far unfuckedup) bike for this particular cheap thrill. As for my selling it ive just grown tired of "squeezing" onto my bird. I need something frigging huge. Im 6'6" and 385lbs afterall.
  7. Lake City Florida Has a power commander and a 6" stretch. The pipes ARE drilled. The paint job is less than perfect, nicks here and there from gravel and a scratch on the right side from a careless grease monkey. There are no chips or cracks in the plastic itself. Its been ridden a bit since the pics were taken so the odo pic isn't spot on. On creigslist for $4000 obo and will be putting for sale sign on bike for $3800 obo. Forum members will get it for $3000 off the bat. I can take more pics and answer any questions if needed. I tried to post fullsize pics but keep getting server error and due to my crappy bandwidth im just gonna leave it as it is. Selling my bird is the first step in the fastest route to buying a new bike. Im looking to pay off my car (most of it anyway) with this cash and eventually buy a Concours 14 or a ZX-14. Still havent decided. Call or text me @ 965-3691 (386) or post here. I answer my phone more often than I go online.
  8. have a bird in mind? mine is on creigslist right now for 4k but I wont charge that to a member here. Ima update my gallery with the cregislist pics of her. if it intrests you drop me a line. Buy mine or not - you WILL NOT regret a blackbird. I paid 6k for mine about 2 years ago and LOVE it. problem is im 6'6" and need cushy seats and not-so-sporty pegs. Concours 14 in my future (spelled it right that time).
  9. Fear not! I originally wanted to get the knee down cos I thought it would be a rush, but ive given it up. I havent dropped the bike yet and damn if im gonna do it like that. That and im putting it on craigslist later on today and I hear that scuffs dont raise the price enough for it to be worth it.
  10. so im to understand that stiff shocks and firm tires are optimal. that being the case how do i go about stiffening my shocks? i adjusted the tension on the rear by twisting the big red thing when i first bought the bike. the front still seems a bit on the soft side though. should i look into replacing the shocks alltogether? i do beleive they are stock and the bike is a 99. as for letting it happen i dont have a good area to ride hard in except the osceola forrest. inorder to get a good lean out there id have to take the turns at over 120. id rather find a nice patch of clean pavement somewhere and practice in a big ass O so that falling off isnt as bad. on that note: is there a good track arround north florida? and if so how much does a day out there cost? btw. i bought some "chrome" deer whistlers so now instead of ignoring me as i ride past on 100 the deer stare at me. <--- new avatar. its a dick.
  11. have the suit have the sliders have the desire have (imo) mushy shocks what should i do and how bearing in mind i DO NOT have a manual or a brain. im under the impression that my shocks ought to be good n firm for this and that my tires ought to be maxxed out (42psi on pilot road 2). i dont have frame sliders so im looking to have all my OTHER ducks in a row before i give this a try. also if anyone has any technique tips for me Im all ears. ive watched everything i could find on google video and found the mcn instructional to be the most helpfull. here we go. save me from myself.
  12. have had em for a while now and LOVE em. they do seem to break loose for a split second when i drop it into 1st at 30+ a little more than my old rubber (i dunno what they were). it seems im barking the rear tire almost every time now. oh... no chicken strips here.
  13. outers drilled to 1/4 and inner punched... with a long ratchet extension and a 6lb sledge. we used the ratchet extension because I couldnt find any rebar. dispite the obvious rape it sounds MUCH better and not all that loud. better than I had hoped for and it was FREE!!! MWAHAHAHAH!
  14. watch out for your electrical system. i had to replace my voltage regulator and generator after pushing my bike home several miles on a hilly ass road. watch for headlight dimming severely when revs are down and watch for hard time starting like the battery is low (cos it is).
  15. SOLD! how do I get mine?
