  1. It also keeps your battery from discharging, which it is doing at an alarming rate when you're at idle, and the fan is running. I put a manual switch on my 84 VFR1000 because the fan came on very late. It worked great on that bike, but I have so far no need for it on the XX. Oh, may I suggest you turn the bike off when at a long light, which I do often, or get yourself a carbed XX and it won't run as hot. good luck marty
  2. Check them carefully. It is possible to slip the pin back in, without the tab properly seated. Ask me how I know.

    Just got mine

How about an update. I agree that if your XX needs a steering damper, then something is wrong. If the tires were not brand new I would consider that first. The XX is bad for wierd tread wear (cupping) on the front tire. marty

    New Battery

****This is absolutely correct**** I advise everyone to take a good look at the numbers because it may significantly increase the draw from your charging system and shorten the life of the stator and R/R instead of the other way around. marty
  5. The Chain guard part snapped off and the Dealer wants about $80.00 Cdn for it. Before I hit the recycle places, (I know one that may have a nice one from a 97 lol) does enyone want to part with one for a few bucks? thanks marty
  6. Wish I had been checking here lately. I have one still in the bubble-pack on the shelf behind me. Let me know if you still need one ok Mike. marty
  7. Hate to state the obvious, but did you check to make sure those two bolts are torqued in well enough? It's not a HD but they will loosen up and even come out. Ask me how I know. lol marty
  8. I hope Joe chimes in soon, He would know for sure. The first thing I would check would be the clutch rod. Pull the primary gear cover and you'll see it right away. Make sure it's not gummed up and jammed in there. Good luck marty
  9. Seems to be holding fine, thanks for your help guys. I couldn't wait to fire it up to see if the regulator was ok. Nice to have a bike again. Still waiting for the wing rack.
  10. Just picked up the stator today and am ready to put the bike back together. I want it for tomorrow and rather not wait for the idiot to order me another. think this will work? marty

Hey Kevin Had an 18t on the 97 for most of last season. When I change the chain on the TI I'm putting another on. I loved it.

    GIVI mount

As a matter of fact Mike I did bring it up before, Ions ago when the 97 first developed cracks. I accepted that as part of life, but now I know in advance what's going to happen. You and Justin are most likely right and there's not much I can do about it, especially the way I overload those things all the time. I was just throwing it out there in case someone developed a miracle cure since then.

    GIVI mount

I've got the mount kit on order to install all three Givi bags on the 98. I'm going to use the old bags, and because now I'm forking out for a stator, I'll wait a bit before buying new lids. On the 97, the rear cowling developed cracks. I'm positive they were stress related from the weight of the bags. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening on the 98? Thanks in advance guys marty
