the cam gear wasn't loctite on, it fell off sitting at a light and shut off. my mechanic said it probably bent the valves

sorry its been a while, here was the original post i believe boost + detonation caused the issue

Hello All, its been a long time since I been on here, I have a 1998 turbo blackbird that I enjoyed for quite some time. I had an issue with the fuel pump that bent a valve, I had the motor dropped and the engine rebuilt lasted me a few months until the cam gear fell off..... since then its been sitting in my friends garage collecting dust which is a shame, life changes are forcing me to sell and hopefully find someone who enjoyed it as much as i did. these photos are when it was last running, the paint i am sure is scratched up and will need to be repainted from sitting in a garage. I will try and get some updated photos. I have put 20k+ into this bike, accepting a reasonable offer. Bike is located in Springfield MA Brent

its odd, was still making plenty of boost just seemed to bogg down for a sec then the turbo would come on hard and blow the tire out.. and lots of smoke not from the tire

how much? should be around 400hp @ 20lbs and pump gas..if i run race gas 35lbs should be over 550 but its completely pointless to run that much boost i get her this weekend she is finally someone complete...possibly a video too Have you reinforced you joints, or are you expecting them to pop every time you hit the gas? Instant wedgie JB Weld more problems, the turbo was blowing smoke like a fog machine... very embarrassing how much? should be around 400hp @ 20lbs and pump gas..if i run race gas 35lbs should be over 550 but its completely pointless to run that much boost i get her this weekend she is finally someone complete...possibly a video too Hmm.. Those are some pretty stout numbers you're posting. Which turbo did you end up using? 65mm hybrid And what cams/headwork have you had done? What RPM are you running to? Ill have to have redcam chime in on this one, Running to 13500 RPM IMG_0443.MOV IMG_0444.MOV

Late to the party I know, but since somebody already resurrected it..... Isn't this the same XX that was in the International Motorcycle Show a couple years ago? if you are referring to the one at the javitz in 07 then yes

I forgot to take unboxing pictures, Stan did an excellent job on the crate.. I was expecting some headache getting the engine back in since it was quite troublesome to take out.. but so far so good everything went smooth and im excited to see how much power she makes...

The 97-98 were carbed and not FI your right...I just assumed because this came in a box of parts with my bike. Anyone know how to identify the year?
