Was trolling Craigslist as usual in SoCal. I called about that bike. It sold in one day. He hasn't taken down CL add either

Had a clogged filter this past weekend, bike just stopped all of a sudden. I would crank, get a sputter, but no go. Wheel it to my post office, walked home got my car, tools, and gas can. Took off tank, tool out pump and filter, removed filter, and gave it a blow(hahahh). Pretty clogged. I had also brought starting fluid just to make sure I had spark. I sprayed this in the filter, knocked it around on the cement, repeat, repeat, blows through better. I walk over to the mountain bike shop, and ask them to give it a blow with compressed air, boom, good to go. I go back to install and notice a split in the hose connecting the filter. Ugh, go in the post office, borrow a razor blade and cut that piece off. Reinstall, fires right up. Moral of the story, the filter was so clogged it put extra stress on the hoses. I would recommend replacing the hose from the pump to the filter, as I going to do this weekend. Good luck, good to here your running.

That is a huge +1 Hell my 97 has 62,000+ miles on it and not a mins problems. I would not hesitate to take it cross country or put it on the track. The only reason in my eyes for a new bike would be a major engine failure or wreck. Some people just like to have new and shiny which is nice if you can afford it by all mean go for it. In this economy most people can't . I have not owned a new vehicle for myself ever . My wife had always gotten the new car. I always have a used set of wheels. Hell my Chevy Silverado had almost 200k on it and I love that fuckin truck. Honda will come back once the economy turns around if it ever does. Until then they will just lay low and save their money . Can't blame them really. :icon_think: Altthooouuugghhh... if they were to make a new one, I would likely be interested. Honestly I would rather drive around a POS car, and make payments on a bike. The new bird I envision would likely run up 18K with all the taxes and BS.

Solution.... find a low mileage bird, they are out there, just need to search. Spend 5K modding the shit out of it and replacing any worn components. Boom, good to go for 5K less than a new bike. I don't feel as if a new bike is necessary. Find what you like, modify to what you love, enjoy. Honda will pull there heads out of their asses soon.

I moved to SoCal a year ago from Athens Ohio where I went to school.... college in the middle of nowhere in Appalachia. Great place none the least.

I also live in SoCal... how damaged is this seat? Any more pictures? no hassle with shipping, I will pick up anywhere in SoCal, will give me a chance to try my new seat.

so when your bank angle sensor cut out during a low angle turn, did it effect the rest of your turn?

Yes, Its all too easy to get choked up... cough, i mean all caught up in the thrill of fixing the problem yourself that you overlook the necessities.

That is what I was thinking... when I saw it, I stared at it for a few seconds, and said, "what the fuck?" out loud. Was happy to see a minor issue though. There was a little rust in the tank. I am guessing the rust grew on the the little clamps around the hose attached to the pump and weakened it. Replaced that clamp with a screw clamp. Also, there is no .. well.. nipple, haha nipple, on the tip of the the pump outlet. You know, like a smaller diameter area for the clamp to seat. 2 new small problems: I think I toasted my battery from cranking so much while trying different things. I nearly killed it the first night, trickled charged overnight, and then proceeded to crank some more in between different trials of what I read from the almighty forums. 2 things were happening at once here - The fuse directly behind the battery is a little loose from me jerking around wires while taking off relays and what not. Everytime I hit a bump the bike cuts out. Mind you guys, I only rode to work today and back, I am not continuing to ride with this problem. On my way home from work I noticed my headlight dimming at lower RPM's, yay battery trouble. The speedo died out a few times(sometimes from bumps and the loose connections, and others from the crap battery). Since my low beams, and high beams are bright, but flicker a little, I am guessing my stator is good but the R/R is on its way out. I will trickle charge the battery again tomorrow and test the charging system using a battery from another bike, and also fix the connection on the fuse behind the battery. Now that I know it is at least running with minimum problems, I will take the time to disconnect, clean, and secure all connections. It feels like a never ending story over the past couple months, but I have put 6000 miles on it since I bought it a year ago... for cheap. I knew it was going to need some work, and am finally running into the various problems I was expecting to encounter.

AHhhh 97.... yea, your FI light is most likely not coming on. But still, vacuum tubes made my carbed Magna run funny like this.

Alright guys thanks for all your help. I pulled the tank, pulled the fuel pump, and I found that the tube from out pump outlet was disconnected...HOW?? Put it back on, took off the filter, cleaned the crud out of there with my starting fluid and air pressure. Put it all back together.... crank it.... NOOTTTHHIINNGG then I realized I forgot to fill the tank back up with that combustible liquid. She is up and running. Again, Thanks.
