The Krypt Keeper
Went down stairs last week and noticed my system was leaking water into the floor. No problem as its sloped concrete with a drain 3 feet or so from the unit. I cut off the system and opened the access panel. Seems the evaporator coil drain pan has rusted where the drain fitting is and is the culprit. Its a Rheem unit, and the pan is part of the evaporator "A" coil. Where is the best place to locate a new evaporator coil or if possible place this coil into a new plastic drain tray. There is some room to spare in the system. Would hate to replace the whole unit just because of the drain plug area. Thanks
Zero Knievel
If you can't replace the drip pan, could you use metal epoxy to seal the hole?
The Krypt Keeper
Talking about jb weld or some of that stick putty you work together like play doh? Father in law has his own welding company, could possibly get him to make one out of stainless
JoWhee
Getting your FIL to make one would probably be best/ easiest, or patching, but if you can post a model number or dimensions of the pan maybe someone could bring one to you at NeXXt. The Krypt Keeper
Thanks joey, will check with him. Sadly, I won't make it to nexxt. Work calendar for sept is slammed with others taking off.
RXX
Online A/C parts should be easy to find. I have done it. Some brands are harder than others, though.
